Of this era i would say the best footballer has to be moynihan. He could get an all-star in any position. M Fitz is for his unique skills. However he is also an excellent athlete with a good work rate. Next, padraig joyce, another very complete player who can tackle as well as he can shoot/pass. Next Darragh O'Shea, exceptional fielder, can carry the ball, shoot and defend. Never gives away cheap ball and has exceptional power. And last McGeeney, great all rounder and one of the toughest players ever. TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 14/07/2009 22:22:06 346166 Link 0 |

Just looking through a few posts their didn't notice anyone from outside Ulster say Anthony Tohill, are we Ulster people over hyping him or did you just not get to see enough of him?I had the joy of watching him a number of times and he was the complete midfielder, strong as a horse, great fielding, could pick up the ball in any position and run with it and get scores.Destroyed us numerous times. beer baron (Cavan) - Posts: 3916 - 14/07/2009 22:41:43 346216 Link 0 |
My top 5 from the last 30 years in no particular order: Matt Connor, Mikey Sheehy, Jack O'Shea, Anthony Tohill, Frank McGuigan. There are many other great players listed on this forum who deserve consideration but Barney Rock is definitely NOT one of them.
