Very good Greengrass I like that one. By the way I am also surprised that the GAA chose a poem by Kipling as he was rapantly anti -Irish and wrote countless articles in 1912 in support of unionist intransigence towards the Home rule effort. Still it is a good poem.

The Championship!
Mornings are brighter, evenings stretch, The winter is a thing of the past, There's a smell of excitement in the air The Championship's here at last.
Fixtures are set, teams are ready, Managers talk the talk, Fans carry hopes and fears But can their lads walk the walk?
Expectation and confidence soar Forget the pain of previous years This time they'll deliver silverware And it will all end in cheers!
But only one team can win it Can cure the doubts and fears Only one will deliver the goods For the rest it will all end in tears
But we'll enjoy it while it lasts We'll curse, cajole and exhort, We'll travel all over Ireland To give the lads our support.
We'll laud our favourite heroes Admire their silken skills Gasp at their endeavours Enjoying the thrills and spills. Sometimes we'll roar abuse at our own Tell him his best is past, But when another has a go We'll defend him to the last.
We'll pour scorn on our rivals From the terraces and the stand But when the game is over We'll warmly shake their hand. We'll commiserate with them Or maybe we'll say well done Because when the game is over We are really all the one.
We'll enjoy the wins when they come We'll suffer the losses with pride We'll chew the nails off our fingers When the games are tied. We'll shed an odd old tear Pretend it's a drop of rain Cos though your heart is breaking You never show your pain.
And if it all comes to nowt Of one thing we'll be clear Twas sadly not to be this time But surely it will be next year!
There once was a player named Conor, Who thought for the sake of the honour, That he'd lift up his shirt And go sharing his hurt, Though his spelling's a bit of a gonner!
Oh Dublinmeath, If i were a poet I'd be shaking in my boots, Talk about Seamus Heaney and WB Yates I think we will have a new poet called Dublin Meath! Bravo!
That took waaaaaay too much effort but fair play to ya all the same. (I assume its good, was too long to actually read and maintain interest in) ___________________________
