patrique, you make a fine argument which is hard to argue with, but im sure you have seen some fine dual players from your own county who have been great at one particular code and have chosen to concentrate mainly on the other. jack might not have been the BEST but i dont think his success has been replicated by anyone else, anfd im quite sure it is mainly to do with the fact that cork are the most successful county overall in terms of all ireland glory, i mean what other county will win both liam and sam the same year. (sad to see the way this great county's representatives have conducted themselves in the very recent past, my poor departed grandfather would be turning in his grave)

Living up to your name I see there pig_ignorant.

JBM in my time was the greatest dual player, as good in both codes IMO, and by JBM standards that's pretty impressive.

Sean Og came as close as is possible to equalling Teddy Macs achievement in 99.

I'm amazed no Meath poster has mentioned Jimmy McGuinness - or Boots as he is better known to his wide legion of fans. Great footballer and equally as good at the hurling. Surely one of Meath's best ever dual stars - and we've had a fair few!

In Derry and especially in Lavey we have an abundance of them by Ulster standards anyway, Ollie Collins has an All Ireland medal in Club football and an Ulster medal in Hurling, Kevin Mc Cloy has an All Star in Football and an Ulster in Hurling, The Mc Gurks and the 2 Downeys also excelled in both. Kiernan Mc Keever and big Geoffrey too, these days Mark Lynch, Sean Marty, Kevin Mc Cloy,2 Mc Goldricks all still play club hurling.
