Limerick has 2 county boards, hurling and football... as does Galway... Waterford dont... the reference to West and East Waterford as county boards is just a mistake, those are simply divisional boards... S Man (Limerick) - Posts: 229 - 16/05/2008 13:10:58 19905 Link 0 |
surely there is more county goalkeepers who play outfield for their clubs. know benny tierney used to play corner forward for mullabawn during league games anyway samin10 (Armagh) - Posts: 2434 - 16/05/2008 13:20:28 19913 Link 0 |
In fairness its not that uncommon for an IC keeper to play out the field for their club. John Madden used to play half forward for Ballycastle, used to be great at long range frees from the ground. I think John Healy was playing out the field for Ballina last year (though probably only the league to be fair). essexile (Mayo) - Posts: 429 - 16/05/2008 13:23:29 19915 Link 0 |

Ollie , if you mean counties that have actually been in an All Ireland final (which I suspect you do) then the only county I can think of to NEVER lose in a final are Down. dubupnorth (Dublin) - Posts: 1897 - 16/05/2008 15:04:58 19978 Link 0 |
The Donegal full back that day was Matt Gallagher. Gave a great display (unfortunatley for us Dubs). dubupnorth (Dublin) - Posts: 1897 - 16/05/2008 15:08:56 19982 Link 0 |

Yes it was Matt Gallagher! I only became aware of that a numbers of years after the game, was probably because of a quiz. Must be an unique achievment apart from subs coming on at the end. Anyone know of any other similar stories? dabackofbeyond (Donegal) - Posts: 77 - 16/05/2008 15:43:43 20008 Link 0 |
