Hmmmm!

I see this has been solved and the answer is Waterford!

But ol Snuffy wouldnt be so sure that Down dont have two county boards aswell!

'Down' / 'South Down'

The 'South Down' are in the Nicky Rackard while the 'Down' are in Christy Ring.
Although I think 'Down' may just be regarded as the 'Senior Team'.

Interesting set-up! Must investigate further.

Limerick has 2 county boards, hurling and football... as does Galway... Waterford dont... the reference to West and East Waterford as county boards is just a mistake, those are simply divisional boards...

surely there is more county goalkeepers who play outfield for their clubs. know benny tierney used to play corner forward for mullabawn during league games anyway

In fairness its not that uncommon for an IC keeper to play out the field for their club. John Madden used to play half forward for Ballycastle, used to be great at long range frees from the ground. I think John Healy was playing out the field for Ballina last year (though probably only the league to be fair).

Ollie , if you mean counties that have actually been in an All Ireland final (which I suspect you do) then the only county I can think of to NEVER lose in a final are Down.

The Donegal full back that day was Matt Gallagher. Gave a great display (unfortunatley for us Dubs).

Flanders in the same article it also says this:

"In the meantime, Mr Hanrahan, who was also a member of the executive committee of the Waterford county board, resigned from his positions with the GAA."

Surely this means the other two boards come under the umbrella of this executive county board.

Snuffy

Down have this problem were a part (a small part) is a good distance from the rest of the GAA community in the county this area is the ards pininsula it has three clubs Ballycran, Ballygalget and Portaferry they play in the antrim leagues and bar maybe 5/6 players make up the entire down hurling panel. For this reason the Down county board requested that they be allowed to enter another team to help promote hurling in the rest of the county.

ps I take it jayoc is off today either that or sacked for spending to much time on HS.

Kerry have won the most all ireland football titles but also lost the most football finals.
I think they have won 36 and lost 20 or something like that.

Yes it was Matt Gallagher! I only became aware of that a numbers of years after the game, was probably because of a quiz. Must be an unique achievment apart from subs coming on at the end. Anyone know of any other similar stories?
