Cluxton is highly overrated. Small keeper not commanding under a high ball. Kick outs are suspect, relies on kicking quick passes to Shane Ryan on the wing which is old news at this stage. Tends to loose the cool. Not the hallmark of the best. gaamad (Westmeath) - Posts: 101 - 16/05/2008 14:11:58 19943 Link 0 |

James Reilly from Cavan easily, best kick out, best shot stopper, always best with a high ball... If he played for any of the big teams people would be ranting and raving about him. Cluxton to his credit deserves a mention, he's a bit too eccentric for my liking though... CC1 (Cavan) - Posts: 65 - 18/05/2008 23:58:54 20439 Link 0 |

Surprised that there's even a debate on this. Stephen Cluxton is the best keeper of the modern era. holymoly (Dublin) - Posts: 757 - 19/05/2008 11:38:36 20580 Link 0 |

lads i have said it before if cluxton was from carlow noone would say a word about him- simply yet another case of making a superstar out of an average player, and please dont tell me he is not erratic the man could do anything literally anything you dont know, now your man from meath cant think of his name he is the real deal as is david clarke ball-boy (Mayo) - Posts: 4211 - 19/05/2008 11:50:49 20598 Link 0 |

Ah BB, can't say I'm surprised at your assessment of BB. Lets go back to facts, you don't have to like the guys style - his record speaks for itself. I think you would agree with me that Dublin have had a very dubious full back line for the last six years or so, yet Cluxton's record in front of goal is amazing. He's conceded very few goals - isn't that the hallmark of a great keeper. holymoly (Dublin) - Posts: 757 - 19/05/2008 12:11:27 20616 Link 0 |

your not surprised of my assessment cause perhaps you know im right, sorry i dont rate him at all, i will agree on the dublin full backline it would be a compliment to call them average ball-boy (Mayo) - Posts: 4211 - 19/05/2008 12:19:57 20625 Link 0 |

Ha ha BB, I would never be surprised of your assessment on a Dublin player because I thought you were right. It might just be because that big anti-dub chip on your shoulder now needs its own area code holymoly (Dublin) - Posts: 757 - 19/05/2008 12:34:18 20640 Link 0 |

holymoly- not at all i think cullen is a fine player as is rayn but stupid management has ment two seriously gifted footballers are looking only average - i appreciate class when i see it i also know a load of bull when i see it, dublin have two good footballers mentioned above i wouldnt want any of the others if i were to have my pick and that is being totally honest about it, there are lads playing for minnow couties that are far better than some of the lads on the Dublin team. ball-boy (Mayo) - Posts: 4211 - 19/05/2008 12:54:04 20667 Link 0 |

Thats fair enough BB, we're all entitled to our opinions like you have of the Dublin team. I would disagree strongly with a lot of it (not all) but there's no point in going around in circles. holymoly (Dublin) - Posts: 757 - 19/05/2008 13:20:56 20687 Link 0 |

if gary connaughton best in the last 5 then weve all been smoking the weed hes dodgy the most consistent has been the kerryman murphy hardly makes a mistake and great kickout the rest are lightweight keepers cluxton has been made into a superstar and the post that all great kepers are dubs due to their soccer backgrounds is piffle reddoctor (Tyrone) - Posts: 1241 - 19/05/2008 13:36:09 20701 Link 0 |

Another good keeper is the chap who plays in goals for Antrim. Can't remember his name. Brought off a great save yesterday. dubupnorth (Dublin) - Posts: 1897 - 19/05/2008 14:32:57 20750 Link 0 |
