Cluxton is highly overrated. Small keeper not commanding under a high ball. Kick outs are suspect, relies on kicking quick passes to Shane Ryan on the wing which is old news at this stage. Tends to loose the cool. Not the hallmark of the best.

Are you for real..sure, he is a bit erratic at times but 2 say hes not even that good, he only conceeded 2 goals in the league compared to murphys 4 and cluxtons 6!! remember they were all in the same league aswell....surly that proves a point!!

James Reilly from Cavan easily, best kick out, best shot stopper, always best with a high ball... If he played for any of the big teams people would be ranting and raving about him. Cluxton to his credit deserves a mention, he's a bit too eccentric for my liking though...

Surprised that there's even a debate on this. Stephen Cluxton is the best keeper of the modern era.
As for the poster that said he's suspect under the high ball....just goes to show you have absolutely no idea who Stephen Cluxton is. Possibly one of the best keepers I've ever seen under high ball - perfect example of this was when he played in goals for Ireland against the Aussies in Croke Park - beating guys taller than him to dangerous high ball into the box.
His mistakes have been highlighted no end but when you weigh it all up, he's probably saved Dublin more times than he's cost them games.

Ah BB, can't say I'm surprised at your assessment of BB. Lets go back to facts, you don't have to like the guys style - his record speaks for itself. I think you would agree with me that Dublin have had a very dubious full back line for the last six years or so, yet Cluxton's record in front of goal is amazing. He's conceded very few goals - isn't that the hallmark of a great keeper.
Can't say the same for Clarke I'm afraid.

League schmeague, a goalies record in the championship is all that matters
Cluxton has conceded 3 in the last 2 championships
Clarke conceded 7 goals in last years championship alone
Murphy (my choice as second best along with Hearty) conceded 5 in last years championship

holymoly- not at all i think cullen is a fine player as is rayn but stupid management has ment two seriously gifted footballers are looking only average - i appreciate class when i see it i also know a load of bull when i see it, dublin have two good footballers mentioned above i wouldnt want any of the others if i were to have my pick and that is being totally honest about it, there are lads playing for minnow couties that are far better than some of the lads on the Dublin team.

Thats fair enough BB, we're all entitled to our opinions like you have of the Dublin team. I would disagree strongly with a lot of it (not all) but there's no point in going around in circles.
Just as crazy as you think I am that I rate Ciaran Whelan is one of the best midfielders in the country, I would feel the same way when you say that Conor Mortimer is the best forward in the game.
