i would just like to respond to john morrison's post,we know now that he is a manorhamilton man so he will obviously have an inherant bias but not everthing he is saying is false. Kiltubrid are indeed finshed as a team that can win the senior championship in the near future. The team they have had since 2002 has served them very well but they have had nothing coming through to replace the likes of carroll, doyle and conor doherty who were very important players for them and are on their last legs. i see nothing to suggest that they will have anything coming from their underage set-up to make a difference in the next few years. Now about manorhamilton being the best club side since allen gaels that is such a load of rubbish. They won a championship last year after a very lucky two goal second half salvo against a far superior st.mary's side who should have been out of sight at half time. this year they won a handy championship not beating one decent side in the process , carrick and mohill underperformed at crucial times and would have been able to beat manor had they survived that long and if carrick had been in the league final against them they would have beat them. Listen manor are a very consistent side and are very balanced but they have only one player of any genuine class and that is james glancy and even he struggles at county level some times. Their other so called great player adrian croal was kept scoreless by a 17 year old in a recent under 21 campionship game so how good is he. Allen gaels had the brilliantly talented trio of noel moran, padraig kenny and adrian cullen that set them appart as a class team and they were competitive at connaught level. Now manor got a lesson last year against eastern harps and they are in for a right hiding in tuam on sunday against a far superior corofin side. Now if they win sunday i will right a post monday to apologise to the good folk of manorhamilton and if they win the 3 in a row next year like they were promising on the front page of the leitrim observer after their win this year then i will eat my words. but i see them doing neither tomguckian (Leitrim) - Posts: 23 - 02/11/2009 21:48:01 473469 Link 0 |
tomguckian, bit of advice for you just spit out those sour grapes that you are so obviously chewing. Clearly Manor are County Champions for two years in a row and won the league final on Sunday. Dont think you would know a good team or player of they hit you in the face. So when you have got rid of your sour grapes try and be a good sportsman and like everyone else wish The County Champions Good Luck on Sunday, they rightly deserve to be where they are. Win or loose Im sure they will do the County proud. iamawesome (Leitrim) - Posts: 59 - 02/11/2009 22:23:22 473498 Link 0 |
tomguckian; Jealousy gets you nowhere, ifs and buts, and buts and ifs, certain teams did not preform against glencar/manor, incase you do not know championship football is all about preforming at all times and especially at crucial times and you have to hand it to glencar/manor, they never die,and by the way your manner on the sideline is also atrocious, take a chill pill and learn from quality players, Smokie (Leitrim) - Posts: 147 - 02/11/2009 23:09:53 473550 Link 0 |
tomguckian..kiltubrid are far from a finished challenger for senior championship...any team would miss christy carroll wen he retires but doyle played no part in championship this year and doherty only 10 mins v melvin gaels...their senior team is made up mostly of mid20 lads give or take and with young players like emmett mahon, kealon mckeon(both county minors) and dermot mckeon they have young players comin through...plus their 2nd team has won a league and championship in 2 successive years!!!they dont have the pick of st marys or manor but arent bad considering SLM (Leitrim) - Posts: 200 - 03/11/2009 00:45:11 473624 Link 0 |

tomguckian, Kiltubrid got to a league final based on performances over an entire year, which an off-day in championship does not always accurately reflect. Kiltubrid are not an ageing team, at least they give youth a chance to perform. as u said Manor's ' other so called great player adrian croal was kept scoreless by a 17 year old in a recent under 21 campionship game so how good is he?', I just hope your FELLOW CLUB MEMBER who you completely undervalue was not reading your comment. Kiltubrid are a fine club, one who give youth a chance instead of holding them back. That 17-year-old did what alot of senior players could not do last year but will he be considered by senior management?.. Kiltubrid are a club who value, perhaps due to numbers, potential in players, develop and nurture it into a strong team ethic. Fair play to them.
