xxx stated that D Brady was given awful abuse from the Crossmolina fans a few years ago. Sure what else could you expect from them??? That's all they are able to do.

Has anyone heard how last nights meeting went? Lets hope it has been dealt with properly. Now North Knockmore, when you live in a glasshouse like Knockmore it may be advisable to look up the archives before coming on to a forum regarding a footballers jaw being broken, when a member of one your own team got no reprimand for such an action on a football pitch, talking about name calling should be the least of yer worries. There is no need for pettiness when really and truly there are serious issues to be dealt with, lets hope the news about Ronans fracture is what I have also heard, there may be a possibility he may show for Mayo yet. We really cannot afford to be without him for any county game least of all one against Galway.

The Crossmolina managers comments on national radio will come under close scrutiny from all genuine football fans within the county.Anyone who witnessed the incident will realise that it was no accidental clash of heads. The manager achieved a lot with Mayo and has retained a high national and media profile,he is a genuine and knowledgeable football man. However as a fan it ---- in this instance are up for questioning.Do we now wonder at some of his statements over the years? For example Castlebar post 2004 hidin from Kerry "Mc Donald and Mortimer are icons of the game" Hello hello both were on the field for the hidin from Kerry in 2006 as well.Looking objectively at the Mc Garrity incident has a manager of great repute joined the native heath rabble, taken the home rule line?

I'm not surprised xxx you missed the overall point I was trying to make - that our star county midfielder is just maybe not totally without some portion of blame for initiating the incident

I hope as many people as possible come forward to the county board and give statements on what they saw happen to ronan mcgarrity last weekend. The player who struck ronan deserves a lifetime ban! Im deadly serious and im not just saying that because mcgarrity is a county player. It was a cowardly and disgusting act and no matter what level of Gaa is played, there is no excuses for any players jaw being fractured 'off the ball'. There should be no leniency given to this person and i hope and pray he gets a serious disciplinary action put against him. And i am not from Ballina nor have I any association with north mayo.

Lifetime bans and/or lengthy suspensions are out of the question because the officials on the day saw nothing. In the interests of the game and the integrity of Crossmolina how about an apology from the alleged perpetrator and an unequevicol condemnation from the management. No doubt if he was still Mayo manager he would be singing from a different hymn sheet.A summer of enquiries ,allegations and counter allegations will not serve the County team at all.Maybe different people have different agendas behind a veneer of care for Mayo football and Ronan Mc Garrity. If Crossmolina are the real football men that we have all come to admire and respect surely they can step up to the plate with a sincere apology. Then the championship and the Mayo county team can all move on.A County Board enquiry will only muddy the waters and create a ferment of innuendos and counter claims.

Oh sorry LP that i missed your point. I didnt realise that McGarrity getting sent off three years ago made him partly to blame for the incident.

I think there's a bit of a witch hunt going on. The player in question is an honest player who should be on the verge of a county call up, like it said in the reports it was an accidental colision. Its a disgrace that people are calling for him to be banned when he did nothing wrong intentionally.

Had a similar injury from a straight punch and after a few days, when the feeling came back into my top lip and the soreness subsided, I felt fit and fine. The only issue/danger is getting a repeat blow, which might be more damaging, since the area wouldn't be 100%. Apart from the prospect of losing Ronan for the Galway game (and I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't at least on the bench), I don't agree that morale will be effected adversely in the county camp. These are big boys who won't all necessarily like eachother as things stand (and they don't have to), but so long as they respect eachother's ability (which they seem to) and what they're trying to achieve, there won't be any motivational problems. It's often the same guys who are serious rivals at club level that make the best team mates at county, because they are the most driven... whatever jersey they wear they wear with pride... roll on Salthill!

lifetime ban's for throwing a shlap? Some people n here need to get a grip. Look at Tyrone - players do be nearly killed in club games up there in between inter-county championship games, just toughen's them up for the county scene. This toughness and bad guy attitude would serve Mayo well as it's about time the nice guy tag was lost. Starting on Sunday

Don't agree with you there ricky... No place in the game for deliberately trying to injure the oposition which happened to McGarrity. I think it's a ruthless streak that mayo need to develop and not act like thugs.. there is a difference.. Play hard but fair

Just noticed that witnesses are being sought to finger the RMcG culprit in a tribunal-like 'due-process', when nearly the whole county (and a lot beyond) knows exactly who did what. It brings back youthful memories of the 'John Finn' case, where the Dubs player who landed the sneaky punch was known to everyone but was never formally identified/punished.

If some poor player got hit, that wouldn't matter to the County team, nobody would give two hoots! So please dont get carried away with bringing in lifetime bans, unless there are the same rules for everyone...from Junior C to Seinor A; Cant be treating these County players with Kid gloves, no more than the poor sod who never wore a County Jersey; Can anybody name all the other players who got injured in Club Games over the last few months, and missed work, family commitments, etc, etc..

Whether McGarrity plays or not, this sure has been one big distraction for Mayo.

I see the Mayo county board are looking for witnesses to the incident. If they go to this site they will find five pages of "factual" observations. Now if all of those who claimed they saw the incident drop a line with their real name to the board possibly we might see a resolution to all the allegations. Somehow I doubt if too many will bother sending a post to the Mayo county board, easier to rant on Hogan Stand. We are still waiting for John Finns alleged assailant to be unmasked and that was almost 25 years ago. A similar upheavel took place in Derry recently and at the end of the day nothing happened to any of the alleged involvers on the pitch. As the man might say, one mans accidental clash of heads is another mans stray fist.
