give it long.. no1 the name of the team is st.brendans and not ballygar.. call it ballygar if you like but your only showin your own ignorance to club football.. and whats more your showing it again by saying they are the weakest team left.. we'r a hungry team with great forwards and tenacious backs.. in time u'l be proved wrong underdog17 (Galway) - Posts: 18 - 06/07/2009 23:06:58 335025 Link 0 |
a few surprises at the weekend in the championship, with caherlistrane going out and corofin being pushed to extra time. there was no surprise that there was bad blood with milltown and salthill after last year. in pearse stadium on saturday i can honestly say i have never seen a worse match then barna and annaghdown. tuam and michael breathnachs played a very good match after. tuam are my tip for frank fox if they can keep thier discipline at the game (Galway) - Posts: 49 - 07/07/2009 09:28:35 335215 Link 0 |

Underdog17. I am well aware that the official title for the club is St Brendans. However, in banter between football supporters the club is almost always refered to as Ballagarr, Newbridge or the Cruffins. This is not out of disrespect, but is just one of these things. St Brendans are rightly or wrongly perceived as one of the weakest Senior Clubs in North Galway. When asked by someone at work or in the pub, "who are ye playing at the weekend"?, and you answer, "Ballygar", "Clonbern" or "Glan", the topic of conversation changes, as if the outcome was a foregone conclusion, which based on past results it is. St Brendans have not beaten a number of Senior Clubs in Yonks. Everyone of the 7 other remaining clubs in this years championship would almost certainly choose St Brendans, in the next round, if they could. The Herald report on the match stating that, St Brendans are on the up is IMO laughabl, but sure only time will tell... giveitlong (Galway) - Posts: 1278 - 08/07/2009 21:08:42 337956 Link 0 |
