The closet hurl maker to Galway City would be Paddy O'Dea in Ardrahan. His hurls are still the best not just in Galway but in Ireland. They are €25 per stick. County players such as Farragher, Collins, O. Canning, Harte, Barry and Burke all use O'Dea hurls.

Philip Larkin and Tom Joe Larkin also make good hurls but my preference would be for O'Dea's.

I have seen but not played with Seamus Canning's hurls. They appear to be a nice hurl and look quite similar to Philip Larkin's old pattern.

I've never heard of Dunne's Hurls. Does anybody know what shape they have?

Another hurl that appears to be good is Kevin Molloy's from Kilnadeema. They look like O'Dea's but not as rounded in the bas.

TJ Reid the Kilkenny hurler is making hurls now. Haven't heard any reviews though. I'd imagine they'd be good, if his hurling ability is anything to go by!!

No waitingsince73, I put the linseed on over the winter, that gives the hurl time to season and lighten before the summer. During the winter I put the linseed on in the garden shed and after about 6 weeks I put either in the house, not too warm location or if the weather is mild in the boot of the car. I find after 4-5 weeks the hurl seasons nicely and gets back to its original weight, ready to go then. Time and seasoning i find works very well.
