From what I can glean from the entries so far a lot of people put Cork above Tyrone. Really cant see that one at all. Granted Cork are big , mobile and extremely athletic but still have an awful lot to prove. Could be their breakthrough year but I just fancy they dont have enough talent and craft. Also a little bemused to see Mayo so far up a lot of lists. Would these be the same people who recently sung Galways praises and have changed their minds seemingly over night . Always believed Galway to be a tad over rated , and now see most people relegatin them to seventh or eighth. Its Tyrone `s or Kerry`s to lose for me.

The Dubs and Mayo are in the same boat... they've well beaten the sides they've met so far (the Meath result was a poor reflection of the Dubs superiority), but it's only when their midfields take just a 50/50 share of the ball, and their forwards are forced to defend as well as score, that we'll really know the true value of their respective challenges. Ranking the Dubs at 3 and Mayo at 4, as a lot of posters have done, makes no sense yet. Antrim have beaten better sides to get to their provincial final than either. The first side the Dubs met last year who deprived them of a monopoly of the ball and forced them to chase after it was Tyrone and the result wasn't too pretty... I'm not saying events won't prove posters right, but the evidence is pretty thin right now...

2. Kerry
3. Cork

5. Derry

Forget Dublin simply not good enough and get shown up everytime they play anyone half decent, Armagh on their day can beat anyone, Kildare will rule Leinster soon. Winner from top 4!

Why are Mayo so low? I would put them at 10th. Above Sligo and Antrim. They may beat Galway and I'm a Galwayman!

Based on current performances .
1. Kildare
2. Tyrone
3. Cork
4. Antrim
5. Dublin

But come the end of the season
1. Tyrone
2. Cork
3. Kildare
4. Kerry / Armagh ( I think both will meet in the qualifiers )
5. Galway
6. Dublin
7. Derry
8. Mayo

AllIreland winners wont come out of the top 4 . Dont write off Kildare . McGeeneys got the team believing plus the Croke park open space will suit their style of play but its also suits the Tyrone game regarding their " total football " and fitness levels . Tyrone will meet Cork in the semis . Tyrone win Tyrone are allireland champions Cork win Kerry or Armagh will win . Cork can beat Kerry in a provincal game but i still dont know in croke park

FAO Van Veron.....why do people rate Monaghan so much?

A good question, & hopefuuly I may shed some light!

Firstly, Derry beat us this year in "THAT now infamous" Ulster

1st rd..... That has certainly set as back, & hopefully we can regain terriority against Armagh on Sat.

Record over last 2 years; Monaghan have gotten to an Ulster final losing narrowly to Tyrone. They have beaten some quality teams in tboth Championship & qualifiers, namely, Derry (x2), Donegal(x2), Down. Kerry beat them by 1 pt in All-Ireland Q/F & also by 3pts in last 12, last year ( a bit of luck & Monaghan could have won at least 1 of those games). Monaghan this year have also qualified for Div.1 Of the NFL (swaping places with W/Meath).
Nobody from Monaghan are making any claims that we are in the top 3 or 4 teams, but certainly we feel we are deservingly top 10ish!
Mind you, our game against Armagh on Sat., I feel, is a make or break situation for this team...defeat could see serious slippage
or a win would give us momentum & an upwards surge!
Muineachain abu!
