Made my senior debut against Gowna a few years ago and Big Dermot was full forward and sure didn't they boot every ball high into him, i tried everything but he won nearly every ball. Then in one challenge he fell down on top of my knee, i had to go off but i wasn't complaining, i was being roasted. Mad Eddie is m- but sure you just really laugh at him, he's not scary just m-! Also heard a good story about Martin O'Connell the former Meath footballer, a young lad from cavan supposed to be the next big thing was sent on in a challenge match and Martin (who was at the end of his intercounty career) was marking him, martin asked the lad what his name was, so the lad responded i'm X to which Martin replied "never heard of ya before, probably will never hear of you again" and most people haven't heard of the lad since, he got taking to the cleaners and never played county football again!

Back in the early 90's Leitrim and Roscommon were metting every year in the championship, a local derby and with bitter rivalry.

There were 2 backs from Aughawillan club on the team, not sure which one the story was about, who had reputations for being half-mad!

He was marking a new Ross forward, first year playing senior, and was told to put the fear of god in him, "Let him know you are so mad you would eat grass"
So as soon as they met on the field he pulled up a fist of grass, stuck it in his mouth and started eating it!!

From my county in football it would be Barry Cullinane. He's a big fella. And in Hurling, Ollie Canning. A very tough operator. From other counties Dara Ó Sé seems as strong as a bull.

Seamus O'Donnell was the Limerick goalie's name...gas character and actually talented footballer. used to play full-forward with his club St. Kierans until recently.
