you would have to question why naomh brid dont use some of their intermediates or minors...is garvey hoping to win the intermediate championship only??

on the naomh brid thing- i think its a great move not to play minors if possible. we have as we dont have the luxury not too, but fairplay to n brid on keeping the minors focused on their own grade and not an adult one..
More importantly! how do we all reckon the games will go this weekend? rangers just look unstoppable in their game although bkillen played well in last game v st mullins. st mullins shoud take a game carlow town team but not easily i d say. the other game promises to be a tight affair.

MLR V Ballinkillen- MLR by 10+ points.
St Mullins V Carlow Town- Carlow Town by 3 points.
Naomh Brid V Naomh Eoin- Naomh Eoin by 5 points.

Thats my thoughts...............

If Rangers do not wn then it will be the shock of the season, Carlow Town have a good cahnce against a poor looking St. Mullins while Naomh Eoin look to have the strength to pull through but Naomh Brid have the drive in them as shown against Erins Own to pull off a tight win. Rangers definitely and the other 2 could go either way.

As regards playing or not playing minors on senior teams, i believe that minors should be held in reserve for their own championship. The tendency to say that if they are good enough they should play misses the point that their experience of playing senior can also ruin them. A lot of great promising minors down the years especially in neighbouring counties has shown that a very large percentage of them fail tt make the senior grade and many of them fet a jostle or worse that stops them playing altogether.

If managers are not playing hese players, then they are looking after the best interests of these players and of the clubs in the long term. I know that people sometimes look at the player who does make the transition well, and hold these players up justifying playing young players, but the opposite is also true.

The short term gain for the senior team may not in the long term be in the best interest of the player and the club! So i applaud those within and outside our county that refrain from using young players.

Rangers should win alright, but it depends on how they are taking it with football & all. St Mullins will beat carlow Town. As for naomh Brid they are in for a big hammering we are going to beat them by 10+ they are useless & a disgrace to hurling within the county the way they have treated the championship this year we'll show them.

Be carefull Carlowgael how you treat Naomh Brid. We should know down in MLR. The have the players to win any Championship match and if they put their mind to it they will be dangerous enough. Your (Myshall) problem is your forwards. You have excellent backs and Roberts in the middle is also hurling brilliantly. You just dont have the forwards to do damage. I hear big Des is back so that might improve things for you.
In the Senior and Un21 games against Rangers you hurled enough ball to be a lot closer than the scoreline indicated. You just could not convert your pocession into scores. I dont think that you have the firepower upfront to win this year. 1 pt in the second half, from a free, against MLR. And it wasnt as if enough ball wasnt going into your forwards. I know you think you will wn by 10 points +. I think you will do well to score 10 points +.

What way does that leave the standings now

I think MLR are on 10 pts (5 games) Erins Own 7 pts (5 games) Naomh Brid 6 pts (6 games) Naomh Eoin 5 pts (5 games) St Mullins 4 pts (5 games) Carlow Town 4 pts (5 games) Ballinkillen 0 pts (5 games). Am I right???????

Next Weeks Fixtures:
Erins Own V Naomh Eoin
Ballinkillen V Carlow Town
Mt Leinster Rangers V St Mullins.

Results from weekend.
Rangers won confortably against Ballinkillen.
Myshall and Naomh Brid a draw.
Carlow Town beat St. Mullins.

My predictions for next weekend.
Rangers to beat St. Mullins - St. Mullins out.
Carlow Town to Beat Ballinkillen - Carlow Town through
BTown to beat Myshall - Myshall out.

Rangers 12
Btown 9
Naomh Brid 6
Carlow Town 6
Myshall 5
St. Mullins 4
Ballinkillen 0

I think thats what will happen if form is anything to go by. The one result that would be most doubtfull would be BTown and Myshall. If Myshall win that then they are through. Its all down to the last round of games. You would have got good odds on St. Mullins and Myshall not making the semis at the start of the year.

Carlowgael i would be more inclined to believe you if your prediction of beating Naomh Brid by 10 point + at the weekend had been correct. I think you will struggle to beat BTown at the weekend and as happened all year it will be your forwards that let you down. A i said in the last post i wouldnt be surprised if you beat BTown but on form they have to favourites.
What's the story with Big Des. He was togged out at the match at the weekend but didnt get put on. He musn't be very happy if he made a come back and then didn't get a game. Not much point in bringing him back if you dont use him. He surely couldnt be any worse than 4-5 of the forwards on show.

I think aragorn1 is right in his table predictions.

Fair play to Carlow Town.

yeah, fairplay to carlow town if it does go that way. the have turned things around now that the have most of the available/stronger players back in their ranks. its a pity the aint getting the response in training that the results would deserve due to other committments. Hopefully if the get to the semi this might turn around, but nevertheless its great to see them competitive again. Time for us to look after our own camp now!!

It would be a fair result for Carlow Town alright. Also a fair result for Don Walker. I didnt for one moment think that Rangers could possibly be facing their old trainer in a semi final spot. It would be great for hurling in Carlow if the Town made a comeback. The sheer numbers available to them would mean that with some hard work that sucess wouldnt take long.
Would it be good or bad news for Carlow Hurling in general if the two traditional powers Myshall and St. Mullins didnt make the semis. Its going to make for one hell of an interesting last round. Any number of results could mean any two of four could be gone.

Has anybody any idea when the Under 21 hurling final will be played. Will it be put off until after the Senior is over or will it be thrown in the middle.

Seeing that the under 21 football final was recently played then the hurling one should be played without delay. This grade has been played in all sorts of weather in the past and in fairness to both teams the sooner its played the better.

So Mt Leinster play Carlow Town and Myshall play Bagenalstown.. Mullins' out, and the champions Naomh Brid and Ballinkillen with nul points.

Can the Carlow Town fairytale continue? Looks a big ask but fair play to them for getting their act together.

Looks like a Bagenalstown-Mt Leinster final to me.
