Senior hurling championship

Jackthelass, nice post. Your own input highlights the direct correlation of those involved now and those involved when the club had it's most recent sucesses at senior, U/21 and minor, plus junior but you seemed to have ignored that. In fact were Richeie Moore and Pat Curran not involved in 1995 and 1999, the last two occasions that the club reached the senior final? You have underlined my point that those who were allowed to turn an adhoc committee, as was the juvenile committee, into a rudderless operation that saw juvenile numbers deteriorate and success dwindle and the knock on effect is the lack of players coming through from their efforts and their since efforts at throwing the club into complete disarray with their behaviour is nothing short of sad undermining their attempt to gain "control" of the club, change the constitution of the club, rename the club, form a club belonging to a different association and whatever else they decided upon rather than appreciate the efforts of those who had gone before, those who are present, join in, put their shoulders to the wheel and roll towards the future. I'm away but I shall return and point out to you where those points you have posted from bygone posts, along with many others on this forum regarding CTHC, are completely misleading and in some cases not very true.

just a quick reply on the issue of a bkillen player hitting a erins own player in the chest in last years match. he got a red card and a suspension, so he didnt get away with it like you try to allege. also i agree with the comments on the reffing, as in certain players got away with red card offences because of the upcoming final. do i disagree, even though i m involved in a club set up, no! i hope the 2 rounds dont divide the lads in any way before the final or break their momentum.

Top of the morning to the top of the street. That man you knew who you spoke to on the telephone did tog out for the CTHC junior team last year, the same year he was quoted in print as being a former member of the club when not being very praiseworthy of the club and it's efforts. I was told directly by two members of the "magnificent" 7 that the same man was acting in "a coaching advisory capacity" to the management team of the U/16 team which is distinctly different from being the coach of the U/16 team. The same man was one of the main subscribors to the belief that the club senior team should regrade to intermediate grade a few years back, and when a subsequent EGM was called to decide the matter, a meeting which I attended, he failed to raise his hand for the motion he proposed and spoke for on the night. After stepping down from his post as County senior Manager, a job which he carried out magnificently, and before he took up his present position on the ridge he was approached by the CTHC executive in the interest of getting involved within the club at coaching / admin level!!!

Ah comrade committe man should i call you. I dont think Eoin garvey name should be brought into disrepute.a massivly positive influence on Carlow hurling and put a hell of a lot of time into the promotion of carlow hurling & carlow town hurling i dont think too many town men can claim to have done so much for carlow hurling except a few notable exceptions who have been show the door at Carlow town Tak, the reason these people can't start a new club is for the same reason there is no camogie club. They are the same group, who like the "camogie" club have been living off the CTHC's generosity of providing funding, facilities and equipment but when asked to go it alone they don't have the know how, committment or experience.==== Im sure it wouldnt take too much admin expertise considering how Carlow Town GAA club as it is now technically know is run there are loads of fields maybe the CBS field in carlow town!! might be of use or outside pitch DR cullen or Pitch up beside gael school or the IT or eire og might give a lend of facilites so there is plenty of places in carlow town for a new hurling or camogie club to be set up if the some hurling people really want to do it which would only be a good thing I put up a post to show poor levels of performance on the hurling side over the last 20/25 years and typical a lot of blame for the poor performance was put on people who were on the camogie side who were only getting teams up and running and i didnt post anything about camoige so how could they affect the hurling side. Maybe centrefield stop pointing the finger of blame and look inwards and see your own problems first regarding carlow town gaa club. i see there was a field day in the club which can only be a good thing. Just a question did any buses of carlow town members go up to the Christy ring final to support Ruari ??

Paddy power are offering Rangers at 7/1 to win the leinster intermediate club championship, and 16/1 for the All Ireland title... What ye reckon...

I reckon there are easier ways to make a few bob. It's a bit early to be talking about Leinsters and All Irelands after 2 meaningless games in the SHC. The serious stuff starts at the knockout stage. Only then will we see what the teams are made of.

I think that is a bet worth a flutter on they seem to be making all the right noises at the moment. They hammered EO at the weekend. It looks like Rangers are a good bit better than the rest. I would put myshall st mullins n brid and b town on the next tier fighting it out for the semis all a long way behind rangers though. Ballinkillen and Carlow town dont seem to be any real threat at th moment even after the towns good win over n brid at the weekend. Any body have any other views on this

Paddy power seem to regard them as having a good chance even this early on in the year, as 7/1 isnt overly generous given the have 6 games to win here and 3/4 games to win in leinster.. kk champs will be strong contenders, prob be dicksboro, and possible the meath senior champs also.. Early days but worth a spare tenner..

Myshall beaten again tonight might spell a rough few weeks for them as they try to get back on track with some interesting games ahead of them. Carlow Town after a great win against M.B came unstuck against Erins Own who have brought their championship hopes alive after a poor performance against Rangers. Rangers and Myshall was a very interesting game by all accounts and Rangers scored while Myshall found it hard in the scoring stakes. St. Mullins still there while Balinkillen are struggling. Carlow Town and Balinkillen look like holding the bottom 2 slots for the moment if the present trends continue.

Rangers seem more intent this year but losing Willie Hickey to a straight red will not help their cause. A long way to go yet...

Post the Ring cup win the manager commented that for next season he wanted lads who hadnt committed to the panel this season to commit for next. Are there any stand-out players in the c/ship not in the '09 panel who are worth a look for next year ?

there are plenty of young players that should be goin in on the team next year like denis murphy from the rangers, english from ballinkillen, clancy from cthc and brian doyle from b town!! other experienced players that would come to mind would be karl english, john doran, cathal ryan, etc and possibly thomas walshe seein as he is now back in carlow and the footballers are going nowhere????

The standout hurler for the Rangers this year is Karl Lawlor at corner back. Has destroyed any hurler that he has marked in the KK league, Leinster League and teh C'Ship. Gary Kelly in the other corner is worth a look also.

At the senior matches last night n thought rangers struggled against an improving ct 2 goals in the last quarter from rangers killed off ct challenge. If ct took there changes things could ave been a lot more interesting.

Tonight's Result:
Erin's Own 1-7
Naomh Brid 1-7

A very poor game of hurling. Neither team deserved to win the twn up by 5 pts at half time only scored 2 pts in the second half. Missed numerous frees and scoring chances incl a penalty. Jacko outstanding as usual though Michael Cowman didn do too bad on him. Neither team will get anywhere near rangers. Referee wasn't great for either team

As the football again kicks in the championship favourites seem to be the rangers who are out there on full points. Have been very impressive. Probably a bit complacent against Carlow Town but in pole position. Myshall have slipped a lot and are in dire need of scorers. St. Mullins are still there while not being in top gear. Naomh Brid were lucky enough to get a draw against Erins Own and the loss of Mark brennan is huge.

For the future Carlow Town are still there but perhaps their surprise element has been well telegraphed at this stage and other teams will be wary. If Naomh Brid get their injury problems sorted out they will be very hard to beat. They have shown their resilience time after time. Erins Own lack a little confidence especially in the forwards and if they get their free taking under cotrol they will definitely trouble the favourites even though the rangers gave them a big lesson a few weeks ago. Balinkillen have their problems but can take points too on their day.

Rangers look good but a long way to go and they need to stay fresh with the football coming up and be injury free to remain favourites.
