Or you could say Atlantic Gael that Ulster has had only 1 semi finalist in the last 3 years just as equally as you can say Ulster has dominated football since the early 90's. But then you could say that Munster football has dominated the game since the early 80's. What are we talking about? Are we still talking about Donegal's win in 1992 as a sign that Ulster football is strong having seen Donegal beaten by Antrim from Div 4? What about the Ulster champions last year losing to wexford? or the Ulster Champions the year before losing to Meath? or the Ulster Champions the year before losing to Kerry. All in their first game after winning Ulster.

You see I could make a case for Connaught saying that they've had 2 finalists and 2 semi finalists in the last 3 years.
Or a case for leinster by saying that they've had 4 semi final appearance with 3 diffreent teams in teh last 3 years.
Or a case for Munster football saying that they've had 2 Champions, 4 finalists and 6 semi final appearances.
or a case for Ulster saying that they've had 1 Champion and 1 semi final appearance in the last 3 years.

As it stands if you read earlier posts people are generally saying that Ulster football is not as great as it is cracked up to be. Nobody is making it out to be great except Ulster people. They are entitled to do that. We are saying that the standard across the country is poor including in Ulster. But at the end of the day it is the fans and the general public who are also entitled to give their view.

Take a look at the independant today and you will see the big crowds are going to the Munster games. And 3 of the top 5 gates so far this year have been Munster games. But if us Munster people keep banging on at how great Munster is all the time I dont expect anything less than the good posters of this site to come down on us with all guns blazing in good old fashioned Irish knockemdown style. With all the undeserved talking up of Ulster that is what is happening to ye.

...jealousy from your own county makes ulster out to be great!!!!..i can still remember jack o connor after the 2005 all ireland in his interview...he was asbolutely stunned by the mental and physical fitness of tyrone....thats just typical ulster...mental fitness and physical fitness..a mile ahead of the rest of the rest of the provinces!!!!!!

You see tribute we can take our dose of beatings. Check out any Kerry posts after the All ireland last year or after the Last 2 games against Cork. They will be fully complementary of Tyrone and Cork and even more severly scathing of our own lads. You see we dont settle for mediocrity and we are well able to take a dose of reality. Fair play to Tyrone for beating us 3 years times and hell they would probably beat us this year too. Not in the slightest bit Jealous though. Why would we be? Or maybe you're not long enough around to understand.

The thing is that it's a great shame there was none of this so called Ulster Physical and Mental strength on display in Breffni park a couple of weeks back when two of the worst looking teams in a long time togged out to play a mildly interesting game that happened to be competitive. If you and more of your fellow provinvial men spent more time analysing your own county's performances and taking a good dose of reality as to the standard of your teams rather than worrying about whether we are jealous or not down in Kerry, then maybe your province would benefit and we would start to see some interesting improvements in the standard of Ulster football.

Ye will have your chance on Sunday to show how Physically tough and Mentally tough ye are. I for one have no interest in watching this (two teams proving their mentally ability to oneanother and kicking 47 wides at the same time) although I would like to see both Cavan and Antrim progress to the final for the benefit of the game.

Kerry are good losers???? That's a nonsense, they made excuses in the 60's when Down, Galway & Meath beat them. They yapped when Armagh, Tyrone and Derry beat them and consequently many of us have little respect for them. Your best friends when they whallop you but your sworn enemy and whingeing moaners when you tank them. I must admit I am taking a bit of solace in their current discomfort but knowing them they will probably come back and make the All Ireland final though this squad is pretty poor and very beatable.

where have you been the last decade...ever since teams like tyrone and armagh started showing kerry up,people(kerry people mostly) starts slating ulster for using negative tactics and jealousy hit one person so hard(you know who) he called ulster football "puke football" on live t.v....and your saying kerry isn't jealous!!!...just goes to show how ulster dominence gets to kerry people and im loving it!!!!!!..most jealous county in ireland id say!!!!

.Tribute, there's a pile of puke football being played by lots of county's at the moment.

If you want to count the last 10 years then you are welcome to count the All ireland medals over the last 10 years too.

There's nothing to be Jealous of with regards to Ulster. As for TYrone we would love to have Sam Maguire down here. It's a;ways been that way. I'd imagine 31 counties in Ireland are Jealous of Tyrone. Or maybe your county isn't that bothered and is satisfied with just watching on your sofa as a fellow provincial team wins. I'm sure ye will be all guns blazing against them if ye get past Antrim. We've lost plenty of finals down through the years and there have been plenty of teams we could not beat over periods like Down, Tyrone, Cork, Galway, Wexford. But as fans we also have eyes, and some of the football including Ulster but not just Ulster has been horrendous this year.

This is not a thread about Kerry. this is a thread about boring football. I agree that Football has been boring and in particular this year. I think the Ulster Championship has been no different to the rest of the provincial championships and I have said that ad nauseum down through this thread. What is getting fired back is that Ulster are the best. They are nowhere near the best over the past 3 years. Absolutely nowhere near it and they have proved that themselves with the results. If you want to go back further, like I said count the medals. Besides Armagh and Tyrone, no other Ulster team has come anywhere close in the All Ireland or in the Ulster championship. Stop taking credit for something you hvaen't contributed to. I could easily come on here saying how great Munster Hurling is but I have no right.

well,id be very surprised if there is not at least 4 ulster teams coming into the quarter final stages...considering they won't meet each other in the qualifiers!!what other province could do that???ulster is the dominent province..like it or not!!

Thykingdomcome you make some well thought out points and you appear to be a man of substance. From an Ulster perspective however we listen to Kerry people like your goodself telling us how much respect you have for our counties ,but on the other hand we read the books by Jack O`Connor and Mick O`Dwyer slating both Down and Tyrone respectively after their Kerry teams had both been well beaten on at least two occasions. It would appear to us that Kerry people cannot take a beating in the gracious manner you espouse. You might argue these are two issolated incidents. So be it. I think Kerry should take the long view of Tyrone and value their contribution to the AL series. It can only help raise the bar even higher for everyone.

Brolly, you are dead right. They are all boring enough. mind you just as it is true in Ulster it is true in the other provinces, there are a couple of teams that are entertaining in each province.

Gaelantrim, I haven't read the books. Would have no interest in O'Connor, the Me Feiner, although I have the height of respect for Micko. I can only talk from myself and just because I am from Kerry doesn't mean I always represent the county's view. I don't want to be hard on Ulster or any other province but for me a dose of reality is need from the top to the bottom of the GAA right from Fans to Central Council but also from some ulster posters on here. They have to realise that the games this year have been of a lower standard than usual and the young players coming throuhg seem to prove that the coaching of skills has become marginal.

For all lovers of the GAA it shouldn't be allowed to go unnoticed. It is a serious concern. And good luck on Sunday. It would be a mighty bridge to cross after 29 odd years.
