Who me? Good you're a prickly sort alright. I love Mayo - great spot! Thats one of the reasons I go to Dublin matches - I know its helping Mayo to built a state of the art press box. And don't forget the ladder up to it........ C'mon Mayo - hotbed of rebellion - oh - and the West Brits (see GPO, 1916 for ref)

Paddyogall are you not around long enough to know not to rise to the bait of the lancashire road mob?It looks a fine job,but I hope your not counting those concrete seats as an all seater, the ones that numb your arse into oblivion, the feelin only comin back into it when your on the way back through frenchpark.

I hear that there will be big sponsorship for the stand from Goulding's Fertilizers - in recognition of the team....

The final capcity is a bit of a mystery. It was going to be 42,000 including the new seatin at the albany end, however no work has started on this end yet,ive posted on many websites and nobody seems to know what is happening at that end, have they just forgotten about it? it's in the plans.Without the albany end being redeveloped the capacity will be 38,000.
To have a cantilever stand would have cost a extra million, which they should have done, they could have used the money from the invisible new albany end for this. However the stand still looks great.
Paddy, you should know better than to rise to the bait. The reality of the situation is the new Mchale park is an example to all as it was one of the very few (maybe only, open to correction) ground of it size that was build without a penny from Croke Park.In fact when the ground was redeveloped in the early 90's we did it ourselves then as all Croke park money went into Hyde park and even then Mchale park was still a superior and bigger ground.
All in all is something for us to be very proud of,cant wait to see it finished and full with a big match against galway or the rosises

I thought cigarette advertising was banned? Is the other end the Goldbond End?

kimbap is right.

the albany end is the opposite end to the bacon factory end.!

gaa has alwyas been anti west. rem tony keady affair. rem they tried to bring the 'provincial' home close to leinster border in hyde park. rem when sports results are given by gaa/rte its " and finally, in the west.............."

i like the one about the leitrim stand being the only one in the country that can accommodate the entire county and their cousins.

Hope this ground doesn't end up like the gaelic grounds in Limerick. Loads of money spent on its redevelopment only to be barely used for the whole year.

With way Mayo are right now, there's a very good chance of the place falling into that category.

I think the redevelopment could have been better. There seems to be loads of pillars holding up the roof of the stand and it is awful annoying watching a match when pillars are in the way.....also they are making alot of what seems to be a fairly standard press box

Us Dubs had a pillar in Croker for years but it didn't do us much good............ I hope the Pillars ye have don't go banging into your manager like the Pillar in Croker!!

i think its absolutely ridiculous that in this modern era that they would build a stand with those poles. i haven't see a stand built in the last the 5 years with those in it and as the last poster said it hinders views and is very annoying. typical gaa, a 20th centuary stand in the 21st centuary.

Ye have it all wrong lads!
I've seen the plans for McHale Park. They are enclosing it in a big cage! 30ft high wire mesh fence to keep the animals in!
I suggested 50ft cos these animals are tenatious!.....oh and a retractable roof so the zoo keepers can throw food in to feed them from the "Bacon End"!!!
