Nicky Joyce

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I heard last night that Nicky Joyce has been removed from the Galway panel. I think it was cos of missing training. Some people might think that it's a good move but mark my words any small chance Galway had of doing something with him is gone wothout him.Padraic Joyce no longer has the ability at this level and the only two class forwards we have are Mikey and Nicky. It's sad that it has come down to this.

Caltraman: Who did you hear this news from and is it true or just one of those made up rumours that people hear??

If it was a breach of discipline and the manager felt it was bad enough for him to go off panel so be it. Same rules no matter who u are.

Well I'd like to see whether this is true or not first but to be honest it's not something that would surprise me. I'll put it like that. Would be a big loss though as Nicky is a very talented footballer

I know the reason you refer to Brenog but I dont think that was the reason at all. That was just the last straw of a difficult few months Sammon had with the lad. It really is sad cos I've met the lad several times and he's a genuinely really nice guy but he is obviously difficult to manage. As usual in this situation nobody wins.Galway lose out.He loses out.We lose out.Complete disaster for all.

Not what is needed a couple of weeks before out first meaningful game. One of our best forwards chucked off the panel. Heaps even more pressure on the shoulders of Meehan.

Joyce is a talented guy and could have been a big player for ye this summer.. Must have been a serious breach of discipline to get the bullet 2 weeks before a Connacht semi final. Shows Sammon won't put up with any nonsense no matter how good you are.

I hope he gets brought back on to the panel after the Sligo game, he is a class player. I hope whatever wrong he has done can be forgiven after a one match suspension.

c.j. If you are talking about Fiachra Breathnach (Your comment 08/06), at least have the decency to spell his name correctly. I am sure that Fiachra is gutted like any good team mate would be, nobody likes to see this happening, no matter who they are so please keep your childish comments to yourself and contribute to this discussion in an adult manner.

Can only be good news for Galway to have him back. And bad news for us here in Mayo!

Agree unclegerry its good to have Nicky J back but he can be inconsistent. At times he seems to be even a better forward than Mikey Meehan - at other times he is dispossessed way too easily and is anonymous but overall I'm happy he's back. Liam Sammon has to open his eyes and come to the conclusion that the likes of Damian Burke, Blake, Cullinane, Declan Meehan (past his prime), Greaney and O'Donnell are not good enough. Why he seems to be picking the same set of backs each game who have proven not to be good enough against the top teams e.g. Kerry and how he is not experimenting with proven midfielders such as Cillian DePaor, Eddie Hoare, Greg Higgins or Cathal Blake is beyond me.

tommy k your dead right. How can Liam Sammon persist with the likes of Barry Cullinane and Gary O'Donnell when theyre clearly not upto it at intercounty level? Cullinane,O'Donnell,Coleman and them dont always dominate even at club level.

The likes of Eddie Hoare,Greg Higgins,Cillian De Paor,Micheal O'Brien possibly,Cathal Blake, have to be looked at for the league next year.I'm not saying they should be all called up but i feel they deserve a chance and coukld be better than wgat we got. Also players like Greg rogan and Niall O'Brian who was the Galway SFC topscorer last year...
