Are we hopeful?

PearseBro, we have more silverware than Monaghan in recent years anyway. Also, contrary to common belief Derry are not a dirty team I'd like you to name other incidents where there has been similar scenes involving Derry? This is starting to really annoy me, there has been mass brawls in matches in the last number of years involving certain counties and not just once time and again, but the thing is they are the people who will come and ridicule us.

Derry are being painted as the bad boys in all of this and Monaghan are getting the sympathy vote, well it took two to tango.

Also people who are saying 'Derry's dirty tactics won't work against Tyrone' Derry will play football against Tyrone because they are more than capable of it. Pearsebro, dry your eyes, it has been 3 weeks since the match and you are still on the Derry page.

Tyrone to win by 4 or 5 points! I think tyrone have too many options at the minute and given the circumstances in the derry camp at the minute it could be hard to concentrate fully on the game!!

tyroneforsam09 - thats a fair comment and i think you are right - Derry realistically need to be full strength (team and bench) to have any sort of chance of beating the red hands - most Derry fans i have spoke to are realistic and pragmatic are hoping for a good game where we are competitive and make a game of it and run you close - get the injured / suspended players back and give the qualifiers a real lash and let Cass in his first year get to know the team and with an extended run in the qualifiers give us something to build on for next year - Take care and thanks for your intelligent and measured post.

Derryman- i doubt you're viewing things through your 1993 Derry glasses if you think man for man, 1-15 derry are a match for tyrone- the simply reality is they are not even close( going on results, medals, performances over a long period which is what we are all judged on at the end of the day). Who is derry's equivalent to Sean Cavanagh, Brian Dooher, Conor Gormley, Davy Harte (scores every game, usually more than the derry half forward line put together). Derry have 3 good players id take to the tyrone team- mc guckin, doherty and bradley. The game at the weekend will be tight with tyrone winning by 4 points because its a derby, usually tight affairs, if derry turn up to attempt to play ball, it'l be similar to to our last duel in casement- anyone remember??

loyalredhand.

Well done for answering your own question. Haha. And you might want to add McCusker, Muldoon and lockhart. And kielt. Muldoon and Hughes dont compare. And kielt and eoin bradley are both better than mulligan and penrose.

I couldn't care less about our neighbours over the Sperrins, concentrate solely on our team. Everytime I see Derry take the field I see the starting 15 plus subs, tell me something when has Derry ever taken the field with 3 players? Just to remind all you Tyrone people you might have 3 All-Irelands but Henry Downey was the first to bring it through your county.

On another point. Not one of your 3 all-ireland winning teams would compare to the Derry team of 1993. If there was a backdoor system in the 1990'S THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT TEAM WOULD HAVE WON ANOTHER 2 ALL-IRELANDS, BUT THATS IN THE PAST.

Personally I believe this Derry team are a collective bunch and they do possess the quality all over the field to compete with any county in Ireland. Write us off at your peril. Remember the baron years you had before yous won your first All-Ireland.

It;s not Mickey Harte who makes Tyrone its the man with a heart like a lion, Brian Dooher, without his motivation and presence on the field of play you are a different side.

Derry to won this by 3 points.

Loyalredhand. I didnt mention 93 . But on any given day anything can happen especially in derbys unless you are one of those Tyrone supporters that have decided now that Derry do not deserve respect since you win 3 all irelands. Well sure we will all see what eventuates on Sunday. I suspect a tyrone loss will be more difficult for you to deal with than a Derry loss for me. But i do believe Derry will win.

Lads, you're all right- how could our players compare favourably to the aura that is eoin bradley, kielt, lockhart, muldoon and i nearly forgot...mc cusker! our lads will just keep gathering the medals and go down as the greatest ulster team of all time to date! but we'll always be second best, quality wise to the derry team that won the national league and ah........- paddy heaney sumed it up nicely on tuesday- if yous ever got a little substance to back up your over-confidence you'd be dangerous- looking forward to the game on sunday, may the best team win

Derryman- everyteam deserves respect, even though i don't like derry football (don't like as opposed to hate- its a game of football at the end of the day) i respect Derry and in my opinion if derry respected their opposition more the past number of years they would have beaten the Fermanaghs and Monaghans because they have better footballers but they didn't and i feel this was down to them feeling they had a devine right to beat these traditionally inferior counties and no one has that- this year may be different with Cassidy as manager, time will tell. Any how, these forums would be very boring if we all agreed with eachother, looking forward to the game on Sunday
