Decade of the dubs is the worst piece of fraudulent advertising I've seen since my case against the producers of the never ending story!!! holymoly (Dublin) - Posts: 757 - 02/06/2009 17:03:30 299791 Link 0 |
Unless kerry can beat tyrone this year tyrone are team of the decade as kerry could not beat them. Dellboypolecat (Tyrone) - Posts: 15069 - 02/06/2009 17:15:26 299806 Link 0 |
This will be answered by the record books and the record books alone when none of us are no longer around and we're all well dead and buried.. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was. thykingdomcome (Kerry) - Posts: 1206 - 02/06/2009 17:22:05 299821 Link 0 |
Kerry are the team of the decade at the moment and tyrone are the better team, but if tyrone win it this year they'll be both! HokeyPokey (Tyrone) - Posts: 1744 - 02/06/2009 17:58:48 299860 Link 0 |
if any1 wants to read about this topic just read Michael0's post. well said lad. if i had to say it i'd say tyrone bcuz kerry cant beat them, but really, this is a boring argument. galballygael23 (Tyrone) - Posts: 235 - 02/06/2009 19:23:34 299932 Link 0 |
Completely agree with liamwalkinstown. The team of the decade is,and always has been the team that wins the most AI's in that decade.Who beats who is irrelavent. The 4 AI's Kerry have won in this decade,it is hardly their fault Tyrone didnt play them in those campaigns.Tyrone were clearly not good enough in those campaigns, regardless of who bet them. The teams who knocked out Tyrone in those years werent good enough to win the all-ireland,therefore Kerry were better than those teams in those years and hence better than Tyrone in those years because they were all-ireland champions. fredrickwood (Roscommon) - Posts: 2871 - 02/06/2009 19:43:50 299945 Link 0 |
is there an actual protocol for deciding the team of the decade, or are we all missing something here if tyrone beat kerry this year for instance hammer them and then lose to dublin in the final will that mean kerry are the greatest, think not. big debate whether you count it from 2000 0r 2001 as well. but whenever they start including it in the programmes and they start handing out plaques for it maybe then it might be important. the best team wins sam that year end of, if you want a 10 year love in so be it. reddoctor (Tyrone) - Posts: 1241 - 02/06/2009 20:16:28 299969 Link 0 |

When all the kids are going grey, and their children's children look at that long list of past All Ireland winners, two things will come to the fore when they look at the roll of honour from 1990 to 2009, a period of 20 years after Cork's last 2 in a row. They will see many teams on that list and they will look more closely with their inquisitive eyes. Firstly they'll see many new teams winning their first All Ireland but what will be even more obvious when they give it the slightest bit of attention they will see that one team won the Sam Maguire 2 years in a row and they will say "Jaysus they must have been a good team". That's good enough for me and it'll be good enough for Tyrone supporters if Tyrone win this year. If they win, Tyrone supporters will realise what we in the kingdom were talking about, why it is such a big deal to win 2 in a row. They will know we weren't bulls***ing. If they win they will be deserved Team of the Decade. They will have won twice in a row and a total of four times and will then have matched our record this decade. However they will have beaten us on at least 3 occassions eventhough they will have lost to 8 different teams themselves. I don't doubt Tyrone. Another 2 or 3 titles and they will enter immortality. History is in their own hands. But, I'd watch out for Cork. Our Kerry team are the youngest team in the country by a mile and have their own path ahead of them. I have a few doubts about them at the moment but they have as much talent as any team before them. Makes for a cracking few years, and hopefully another chapter in Kerry's history. thykingdomcome (Kerry) - Posts: 1206 - 02/06/2009 20:52:00 299997 Link 0 |

it is quite simple really at the moment kerry are the team of the decade more AI s and league s and provincial crowns , but if tyrone win the AI this year i think no one would complain about them been called the team of the decade hipster (Dublin) - Posts: 2509 - 02/06/2009 21:57:42 300065 Link 0 |

I reiterate: this is all so silly. It's like certain people can't compliment Kerry/Tyrone without demeaning the other team. There's so much backwards reasoning i.e. "I prefer Tyrone/Kerry therefore I'm going to come up with reasons why they are the best". I would argue that the mighty Kerry are the team of the decade... For whenever they played Tyrone these 10 years, it was a Decade of the Rosary they were saying before they took to the field... A_Border_Bandit (Monaghan) - Posts: 95 - 02/06/2009 22:19:09 300096 Link 0 |
Kerry without doubt......champions 4times, runners up 3 times, always at the latter stages (easier province granted) and also they have a few league titles......they have bn in 5 finals in a row, its impressive, the best team of the decade..... mayoman007 (Mayo) - Posts: 159 - 02/06/2009 22:31:22 300114 Link 0 |
In all honesty, as regards All-Ireland senior football titles, it has yet to be decided as it's 3 all (BTW year 2000 is the last decade!!). But those cads who deemed last year's final as "team of the decade decider" were not being honest with us. Real Louth fan (Louth) - Posts: 3157 - 02/06/2009 22:37:01 300121 Link 0 |
That's not quiet true Dos Santos. Have something to prove against only one of them these days. You're just remembering 2002 and forgetting 2000 & 2006. thykingdomcome (Kerry) - Posts: 1206 - 02/06/2009 22:43:53 300127 Link 0 |
Before last year's All Ireland final the headlines in many papers read "BATTLE FOR TEAM OF THE DECADE" and "WINNER GETS BRAGGING RIGHTS" etc etc because a lot of GAA & media folk thought that Kerry were a cert against Tyrone. I am not making that up, virtually every paper & pundit stated as much. Now it looks like the goalposts have been moved again. My take on it is if you have played and beaten your best rival and nearest challenger the 3 times that mattered then it's not even an arguement. If the shoe was on the other foot and Kerry had beaten Tyrone 3 times this wouldn't have even come up as most of would have said Kerry. However some people have a funny view of the world so there you go; obviously they just can't stomach the fact that Tyrone ARE indeed the team of the decade. It's like the Lisbon Treaty, the Irish government & EU didn't like the NO answer so they will keep asking voters to vote until they get it right i.e. YES. Likewise QUESTION: "Who's the Team of the Decade" ANSWER: TYRONE............."I DON'T THINK YOU HEARD US, who's the Team of the Decade" "TYRONE"........"You obviously haven't heard the question correctly...........and so on and so on.
