Completely agree with liamwalkinstown.The team of the decade is,and always has been the team that wins the most AI's in that decade.Who beats who is irrelavent.The 4 AI's Kerry have won in this decade,it is hardly their fault Tyrone didnt play them in those campaigns.Tyrone were clearly not good enough in those campaigns,regardless of who bet them.The teams who knocked out Tyrone in those years werent good enough to win the all-ireland,therefore Kerry were better than those teams in those years and hence better than Tyrone in those years because they were all-ireland champions.
Agreed however that if Tyrone square it up at 4 each in september then in that situation,and ONLY that situation will the head to head come into play where of course the o'neill county have the edge.

is there an actual protocol for deciding the team of the decade, or are we all missing something here if tyrone beat kerry this year for instance hammer them and then lose to dublin in the final will that mean kerry are the greatest, think not. big debate whether you count it from 2000 0r 2001 as well. but whenever they start including it in the programmes and they start handing out plaques for it maybe then it might be important. the best team wins sam that year end of, if you want a 10 year love in so be it.

When all the kids are going grey, and their children's children look at that long list of past All Ireland winners, two things will come to the fore when they look at the roll of honour from 1990 to 2009, a period of 20 years after Cork's last 2 in a row. They will see many teams on that list and they will look more closely with their inquisitive eyes. Firstly they'll see many new teams winning their first All Ireland but what will be even more obvious when they give it the slightest bit of attention they will see that one team won the Sam Maguire 2 years in a row and they will say "Jaysus they must have been a good team". That's good enough for me and it'll be good enough for Tyrone supporters if Tyrone win this year. If they win, Tyrone supporters will realise what we in the kingdom were talking about, why it is such a big deal to win 2 in a row. They will know we weren't bulls***ing. If they win they will be deserved Team of the Decade. They will have won twice in a row and a total of four times and will then have matched our record this decade. However they will have beaten us on at least 3 occassions eventhough they will have lost to 8 different teams themselves. I don't doubt Tyrone. Another 2 or 3 titles and they will enter immortality. History is in their own hands. But, I'd watch out for Cork. Our Kerry team are the youngest team in the country by a mile and have their own path ahead of them. I have a few doubts about them at the moment but they have as much talent as any team before them. Makes for a cracking few years, and hopefully another chapter in Kerry's history.

Kerry without doubt......champions 4times, runners up 3 times, always at the latter stages (easier province granted) and also they have a few league titles......they have bn in 5 finals in a row, its impressive, the best team of the decade.....

also like united they have built two teams from the end of the 90s to now and still maintained a high level of success.......

In all honesty, as regards All-Ireland senior football titles, it has yet to be decided as it's 3 all (BTW year 2000 is the last decade!!). But those cads who deemed last year's final as "team of the decade decider" were not being honest with us.

But on a head to head basis Tyrone have won it and can't be caught as they have beaten kerry at every opportunity on 3 ocassions in this decade. Even if Kerry were to meet Tyrone and beat them for the remaining years in this decade they could not catch Tyrone.

So if it's between these two then the "team of the decade" title is still Tyrone.

However some people have a funny view of the world so there you go; obviously they just can't stomach the fact that Tyrone ARE indeed the team of the decade. It's like the Lisbon Treaty, the Irish government & EU didn't like the NO answer so they will keep asking voters to vote until they get it right i.e. YES. Likewise QUESTION: "Who's the Team of the Decade" ANSWER: TYRONE............."I DON'T THINK YOU HEARD US, who's the Team of the Decade" "TYRONE"........"You obviously haven't heard the question correctly...........and so on and so on.
