I think your a bit harsh on the wolfe tones. They sung songs about Ireland's history both modern and ancient that a lot of pc people were uncomfortable with and the media wouldn't play. They could have steered clear of current events during that dark period and possibly gained more financial success through tv,radio etc. Being of a diiferent generation to most I have to say I thrived in the embarresment of the irish government when Admiral william brown topped the chart during the Malvinas conflict. Shades of the Helicopter song from the 70s.
I have seen the Wolfe Tones live in Glasgow, spolied by the chucky oor la la boys, ut have to say the best concert in my life was the DUbliners in the Glasgow Concert hall.

No criticism intended hipster, I'm sure the boys are good at what they do but it does nothing for me whatsoever.

Thistle_harps, Maybe i am a bit harsh on them !! I have attended a lot of their concerts over the years. My point was that they did use "the troubles" to their advantage !!
