big fan of them myself,wouldn't know all irish folk bands so cant say they're the best but they are excellent,Lukes voice particularly amazing

They did some great tunes allright. One of my favs is McAlpines Fusiliers. Grace would have to be up there too.

Luke and Barney were the soul of the Dubliners. Luke remains my all time favourite balladeer.

Luke Kelly was the Dubliners, Ronnie Drew was a distant second. Luke by far the better singing voice

The Dubliners and the Dublin City Ramblers were great.
Liked some of the Wolfe Tones stuff but i did'nt like the way they always exploited the Northern Ireland situation for their own gain, Christy made a song about anything topical as long as it went against the Establishment too !!

To me they are a 'Dublin' folk group who sing about 'Dublin' things, they have no national appeal as far as I am concerned.
