I agree with you Eamon Corcoran on the advantage rule, it must be looked at. Am I incorrect in saying that a referee can wave a player on before he blows the whistle? I have seen that regularly. They probably dont have any players on the referee's committee and surely someone like Eoin Kelly could contribute very much to that as you could see him talking to Barry Kelly about it. Mark Smith (originally a Kildare footballer) is screaming out for a call up to that cork hurling team, a great full forward and much better than Aisake. cabana_boy (Dublin) - Posts: 1 - 03/06/2009 14:08:36 300711 Link 0 |

A few more games he and the cork team will improve , think they ran out of steam a bit the last 5mins or a least it looked that way.Come the end of the year they will be about that game and the qualifiers will help a lot johnthebanker (Down) - Posts: 29 - 03/06/2009 15:16:48 300814 Link 0 |
Don't rate Eoin Cadogan yet. Too much talk about his display. Anyone that knows anything about hurling would know that he was marking a non hurler in Michael Webster. Someone like Martin Comerford, Eoin Kelly (Waterford), Joe Canning would trouble him greatly. Anyway Michael Webster (and Noel McGrath) buried a geoffmcgonagle (USA) - Posts: 54 - 03/06/2009 15:52:14 300880 Link 0 |
Seems to me that it is the name "O' Hálpin" that's getting this guy on to the team. He's clearly not good enough and has never done anything to suggest he might be. He got a run out for the footballers in a challenge match against the Dubs a few weeks ago and he wasn't that good. Despite this he seemed to have his fans in the Cork backroom team, one of them, who I was sat quite close to, was constantly roaring at other players to pass the ballk to Aisaike...this despite the fact he was making a hash of every ball that came his way. It became clear to me then that the fact this guy is one of the "O' Hálpins" was enough to give him the chance that alot of clearly superior footballers and hurlers in Cork will never get. You might be on to something there Tribetown. But then again he was a very good club hurler in Cork before he left. He was one of the stars when his club won the county(they have not won one since). I would say that a lot of club hurlers that do well in the club championship get a run with Cork. whether they get a start with Cork in the championship is another matter. The O Hailpin name probably does him no harm. In saying that, he is still 6"5 and we do not have too many of those. bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 03/06/2009 19:59:34 301096 Link 0 |
The least you could expect is for a lad of 6' 5" is to catch a couple of balls, and thats about all he did. Granted he's been away from the game for a while but for me he looked hard set to do the basics like even pick the ball or lay off a decent hand pass. Full forward is the most foregiving position in either code. If your big enough and catch the ball and score two or three times you've had a great game. He failed to do this and dosent look the part at all Passer_By (Carlow) - Posts: 536 - 03/06/2009 20:56:17 301161 Link 0 |
