Was at the Balyna V Celbridge match, good game Celbridge given 2 soft goals in first half. Balyna totally dominant in 2nd half however they overpassed the ball to death. Apparently Balyna missing full back for the rest of the year. Good game overall. Celbridge will be handful for anyone however they do commit a lot of fouls. Refeering in this game was terrible (for both teams).

the maynooth and athy rivalry began at under 15 level when de teams that are now playing minor were that age. it was the league semi final and maynooth were hot favourites to win the league.. so athy played them up there and were being hammered by a very impressive maynooth team.. athys only option was to start fights to stop maynooth from embarrasing them and maynooth foolishly got involved leading to a 30 player, umpire,management and fan brawl. the game was abandoned and both teams were thrown out of the league and fined 1000 quid!! they played again in the u16 league where maynooth won comprehensively but they met again in the u16 final where maynooth were down to 13 men and were finally beaten by athy by a point after extra time.. there next meeting for this age group was in the minor league in athy where maynooth (without county players) beat athy (also missing county players) by 3 points... now athy have the chance to effectively knock maynooth out of the championship.. i think its a great story!

lookin at the second round draw the four teams i think will miss out on quarter finals towers leixlip balyna and na fianna but depends on the 3rd round draw i suppose...... maynooth and naas will meet again in the final the only other team that can put it up to them are moorefield nad i heard their best player is gone for the championship so dont think any one else has a chance

johnnylips, in the minor league maynooth were missing comerford through injury and athy were missing reynolds, mulhall, and tony gibbons through injury. what a match it was though!

i think this match needs a very strict referee because there is a lot of bad blood between de two teams and Maynooth, once in the lead, tend to slow the game down with harmless frees but a decent referee would stop this tactic as the would be punished for persistant fouling.

has anybody else noticed this? i think this is de draw of the round, well naas and sarsfields will be a good match aswell! roll on the 19th!!

i was at the lexlip and athy game and can tell the maynooth mentors that they have nothin to worry about.. Lexlip were very weak with moolick and lambert best on show but athy seemed to be clueless only for lexlip kickin so many silly free's wide or droppin short they could have won it.. The so called county men were average young mcgovern tried hard done alot of work but reynolds was lazy as if he didn want to be there and mulhall played to the crowd i felt wit al de dummy's.. Very young team which wil be out muscled by physical side like maynooth

jonnylips if you were watching the maynooth v naas game which i guess u werent u would have seen that maynooth did very little to none of stopping the play or as you say ''persistant fouling''....it was naas stopping maynooths momentum so get your facts right.maynooth will have a strong chance of beating athy if the reff is fair and well let the players do the rest!!
