Derry v Monaghan- Man of Match

(Oldest Posts First)

Now a positive thread on Derry Monaghan, hard to find positive points...but I personally think Sean Leo Mc Goldrick had an unbelievable game today he does a lot of unseen hard graft, DC has a real diamond in this one.

Easy Gerard O'Kane. Ran his socks off and drove the ball up the pitch with his runs. See him with 5 minutes to go he was absoultey exhaused he gave that much today.

Though Niamh i'll give you Sean leo was also excellent as was his brother Barry (makes some difference at half back)

Just about sums up the BBC all right-

Mick O Connell, I did'nt see the BBC analysis, but McCloy did have a good game and was deserving as others as man of the match. Why do you disagree so strongly? I would have though Gerard O Kane did not have a much better game than McCloy? Maybe you could elaborate on your reasoning? McCloy did thwart a serious amount of Monaghan attacks and left the game with dignity.

O Kane and Mc Goldrick stood out much more than the one paced full back who I hope stays injury free for the Tyrone game

I hope he stays injury free as well. Should be a good battle with Cavanagh (If Tyrone can get over Armagh). I like McCloys style as a full back. He stays mainly at the back wins the ball and moves it on like the traditional full back, he has safe hands and can mark big men well. He would have more bother with a nippy corner forward but you would'nt have him mark a forward of that type. You're obviously a fan of an attacking back, I would'nt be the same. I like my full back to stay in the full back. I had palpitations when I saw Justin McMahon run up past midfield last year in the All-Ireland final.

Though Vincent Corey was brilliant right enough. He was the only Monaghan player that made a fair attempt to get his team going.
