Monaghan V Derry

Farney
County: Monaghan
Against Cork each Monaghan player was giving away about 6 inches.

Blimey. That is tight marking!

Has the makings of being a cracking encounter, lets hope the ref allows the game to flow and not be blowin for petty things. Although Monaghan have beaten Derry in the past I would say Derry will shade it this time round. I have alot of admiration for both managers but feel that Cassidy is the shrewder of the two.
Derry by 3 points

Mugsys_barber, how could you know if Cassidy is shrewder than Banty, this is a bit of a step up from managing Clonoe. He is a good manager though and you could be proved right on Sunday!

Derry are missin four regulars(if ye can call Muldoon and Lockhart regulars) and as a result I fancy Monaghan by the odd point. Derry need to get into the game early. They have that habit of lettin the opposition get a lead on them. I`ll be routin for the oakleaf though as the aul relatives are still there. Doire Abu.

What have derry got that is so good,
Rite there full back line is solid enough but mc cloy hasnt looked himself since 07 and freeman gave o kane the mother and father of all roastings in casement that same year.
There have back line isnt exactly seeting the world alight either, 2 converted fowards in the 2 mc goldricks and paul cartin is solid enough but would fancy any of our fowards on him.
Their midfield is strong granted but if eoin lennon plays anywhere close to what he can he should break even or get the better of diver and dick will just get stuck into doherty all day
Their half foward line iant exactky striking fear into me heart. Lynn unproven and light weight should suit freeman down to the ground as he's uncomfortable with a big man. paul murphy has a nice left peg but gary mc quaid will have him on his toes all day with his constent give and go and setting up attacks. lastly mc guigan, didint look great to me throughout the league and hughes should physically dominate him.
Descent full foward line but paddy bradley didnt look fit again kerry but that was 3 weeks ago, hopefully dessie should limit him. eoin bradley by far the most dangerous, will cause problems and vinny will prob pick him up.we can only hope vinny has it in him. lastly kielt young and inexperienced against mcardle whos seen it all and was probably monaghans most consistent performer this year.

so once agin it falls down to the bradleys and with jap.rory and tommy up front i really think monaghan will do it. if its anywhere tight with 10 or 5 minutes to go i think monaghan will pull away to win by 2 or 3

if monaghan man mark bradley which isnt really that hard they will win, simple as that unless cassidy has a plan b which is doubtful. 2 10 1-10 mon

North Monaghan, in NLF Paddy Bradley got concussed, it's not that he wasn't fit, sure he went off and came back on which he never should have done.

I know that Niamh but he wasnt exactly setting the world alight before that now was he. infact ive havent seen paddy bradley play well in a while.

Monaghan leak a lot of goals, they havent sorted out the full back position yet, Eoin Lennon hasnt played well since goin to L'pool and they rely on Freeman... I go for derry and a goal to win it for them. Hope M Downey proves what a good forward he can be and C McManus shows his quality. These two young boys will be important to them now and the future

That's because he hasn't been playing many league games, but he did score 7 points against Galway, 4 points v Dublin before being subbed at 1/2 time, and 6 points v Tyrone. He also missed Kerry 1st game and more or less all of Kerry 2nd game, the Donegal game came on as a sub in Mayo and W/M games. So that might explain why you haven't seen him play much recently but they are still decent scoring tallys for a man you claim to be off-form.

Southferm, not sure what you mean that Monaghan still haven't sorted out the full-back position, JP Mone is excellent there and an automatic choice if he's fit. The only reason he hadn't played much of the league is because of injury.

Have to agree - have always though monaghan underrated
BUT THERE IS ALWAYS ONE BIG CASUALTY IN ULSTER EARLY ON AND ONCE AGAIN I THINK ITS GOING TO BE DERRY

Now Niamh ya know the point im trying to make ,that paddy bradley isnt himself. when monaghan played derry in the championship in 05 in clones paddy bradley scored 1-12 (could be slightly wrong but close enough). now id put everything i have on it that he wont score anything near that on Sunday. Infact when yas played us in casement 2 years ago he scored 1-2 and he was carrying a knock into that game. i seriously believe itll be lucky to match that on sunday and thats even if he scores 5 points.
just dont think he's the threat he was round 2 years ago

Ah but who will win it in extra time Slasher?! If it's a draw after 70 minutes I wouldn't think it'll still be level by the end of extra time. Still think it'll be decided within normal time myself.
