Are Mayo too nice?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I think the difference between a tyrone player acting up and a lad from say kerry or wherever is the tyrone incidents seem to be calculated. It looks like the team have actively decided to try to get some1 sent off. As bad as it sounds, the more you watch it the more it seems to be true. Taking turns pushing and shoving the same fella, or mouthing off and then diving when the fella turns around. I like the football tyrone play, but i dread when the ball goes dead becuase there is always some incident. Its like they have decided to stoop as low as necessary to gain an advantage

Its uncanny how I almost universally agree with your soccer posts on the non-gaa forum yet the exact opposite is true on GAA matters!!

Breffni39 County: Cavan I'm not at all blind to what Tyrone players get up to, particularly in matches against Cavan. But like I said, from watching football for years, I've seen every county up to it at different stages. Fair enough Breffni39. I suppose we're just not gonna agree on this. I understand that every county gets involved in nasty incidents from time to time. Its just with tyrone it seems more sustained to me. And the tyrone lads genuinely dont seem to see anything wrong with it. I posted on here before about an incident involving one of our own players but it never got posted. Basically, one of our lads got a dig from donaghy (after the mayo lad had been needling him) in the chest and then fell to the ground holding his face! I was embarrassed as a mayoman watching this. I dont think there's any need for this nonsense in the game. Anyway, I didnt mean to take anything away from tyrone. They are an outstanding team

The amount of threads on this forum that turn into Tyrone-slagging is a complete and utter joke, patricularly in relation to bad behaviour on the field. I think some posters on here have a strange hatred of Tyrone for whatever reason, perhaps success breeds contempt. Tyrone's onfield behaviour is no worse than Kerry's, let's be straight and honest about this. People are talking about McMenamin, yes he can go close to and over the edge at times. What about Galvin? To say he is less petulant is a lie. My father, who i often watch championship games with and who has always admired Dara O'Shea as a fine midfielder, said last season that O'Shea simply shouldn't be allowed on a football pitch anymore because of the level of aggression he showed last season. I wont't use the phrase he used to describe him as i guess it will be edited. Throw in Aidan O'Mahony's 'falls' throughout the season, and the picture is hardly as rosy in comparison to Tyrone's players as is being painted here.

Ya i noticed that too breffni, il have to take another look at tyrone but, id advise you to do the same. Its not the football they play that annoys me, i actually like that. its everything else they bring with it. And yes some teams do similar stuff, but tyrone are like clockwork with it. Can you remember the last game tyrone game where something untoward hasnt happened? I can understand something like two lads squaring up or even a slap thrown in the heat of things, its wrong but at least you can say it was on the spot. Tyrone give the impression that its all part of the plan. Its funny how the kerry fellas they got involved with are all considered hot headed, d o'shea, galvin, o'mahoney, t o'shea. The gooch is the exception but then again he's the best footballer in the country. Again you could argue that these hot headed kerry fellas are just as much to blame but if you watch the indicents again I dont think this is the case.
