Your right clintonscigar i think McGuckin may well have won two colleges all stars (at least one) and he still doesn't make some of these teams??? I think it may be a case of the age group who are picking the teams! They are heavily made up of very recent players and the obvious ones in 1997! Surely Shane McGahan and Francie Hamilton should be included!!!! Wolfy (Tyrone) - Posts: 109 - 04/05/2009 21:56:05 274799 Link 0 |

Raymie Mulgrew prob played more McCrory cup football than Brian McGuigan Skyblue (Tyrone) - Posts: 193 - 05/05/2009 21:30:34 275638 Link 0 |
In my opinion Raymie Mulgrew was a far better player at school football than Brian Mc Guigan however that has now changed as Brian when fit is one of the best centre half forwards in the country Tyronefan015 (Tyrone) - Posts: 77 - 05/05/2009 23:26:30 275779 Link 0 |
McGuigan was County Minor whilst still an U16 in 1996, I doubt if it was a case of him not getting noticed until the MacRory semi Final in 97. Indeed, that Semi Final was the day he scored a wonder goal against Red Hot favourites St Pats Maghera. While Mulgrew was the star man on the 04 side and got most of the headlines, it was Thornton and Early that got the headlines in 97 - McGuigan's contribution was of equal importance to the Hogan win. Tyronefan015 I take it you were one of the 'supporters' who headed for the early exit to beat the traffic in Coalisland that day in February 97 for those who stuck around we witnessed why McGuigan is a match winner and was probably the biggest contributing factor to the Academys first Hogan! john_forker (Tyrone) - Posts: 149 - 06/05/2009 10:09:50 275906 Link 0 |
What about the Academy's first McRory Cup winning side of 1991? Surely some of this breakthrough team deserve a mention? Rio Bingo (Tyrone) - Posts: 788 - 06/05/2009 10:25:03 275919 Link 0 |
