I hear d wood are stil not in full gear, some teams are gonna get a serious hammerin from dem-hopefully just plunketts & clonkill tho! stonemadbeany (USA) - Posts: 617 - 02/07/2009 21:55:31 330463 Link 0 |
watch delvin play bridge last week .delvin missed a point to win in the last min of the game.bridge for a team that already think they have the championship won want to sharpen up the free taking alone was worse then bad.thought they were lucky to get the draw.delvin will have to play on the side of caution if they keep testing out corner backs in the championship? this should be done in challenges. niall williams had a great game centerback and should be near the couny set up. phillp sheridan was the best for the bridge and really dug deep to get is side back into the the game.crookedwood beat turin in delvin have to say one thing stuck out more then anything else was the age differance between the two teams REALLY stood out crookedwood a very young team with only johnny orme stand out age wise but was still able to find the back of the net twice.were has all the wood old guards gone are they traveling ? leavy? murray?newman? brennan ?they might be found out in the closing stages for this? turin on the other hand are a ageing team they could not live with the youth of the wood dont know what good to say dont think they will make the semi. think clonkill and plunketts will be hit hard with there senior out at the week end.if anyone thinks im to harsh on any team let me know please sporty (Westmeath) - Posts: 16 - 07/07/2009 02:08:49 335154 Link 0 |
Leavy & Murray retired,Newman in Oz,Tormey gone away for 5 wks,Ger Brennan on bout sumthin,God knows wot.Clonkill had a good win over Cullion, another win n C/kill prob in semi's altho by d time d semi's r played they'll ave lost even more players.D top 4 at d mo look like headin for d semis altho its such an open c/ship anythin cud happen & ders alot of games left, each team havin 8 games b4 d k/o stages is a bit much altho its all change 4 nxt yr.Apart from Turin I dont tink any team has an old squad,Bridgets look d best of d lot and have d experience of last yrs final,if Delvin & Bridgets avoid each other in d semis I expect them to advance 2 d final. stonemadbeany (USA) - Posts: 617 - 08/07/2009 20:49:48 337930 Link 0 |
stonemadbeaney of what i seen of the championship so far is that the bridge is not the best dont know if your from that club your view might be tainted.delvin and the wood are in form and if delvin didnt slip up by puting to forward men in corner backs place and letting bridge back into the game.can not see plun or clonkill making and knock out stages due to senior. the wood are short another man as you said kevin tormey talking to bun man there a bit slim of men. he told me the same and brennan is out with a broken bone in back so hard to see sporty (Westmeath) - Posts: 16 - 08/07/2009 23:37:26 338242 Link 0 |
I've seen a few games this year. Age doesn't matter in hurling. skill and class is permanent - look at some old stagers on senior hurling teams. on that basis the final four teams will be Clonkill, The Wood, Turin and Brigids/Delvin. I form my opinion on fact that Brigids still have to play Wood or Clonkill (the best two teams in this championship - for a fact). As do Delvin. It'll be very close. manfromdelmonte (UK) - Posts: 541 - 09/07/2009 00:01:06 338281 Link 0 |
What is all this about Delvin playing 2 forwards as corner backs. Can anyone inform me as to who they were? And what the starting 15 was? jumpinjack1 (Westmeath) - Posts: 1 - 09/07/2009 08:42:29 338422 Link 0 |
I'm not from Bridgets but they seem 2 b d only team gettin good results apart from der draw wit Daltons (dat result may come bak 2 haunt dem),altho dey were afraid to play C/Kill wen it was originally fixed.D wood struggled 2 beat Daltons & Cullion,& Turin are no gr8 shakes.D reason I tink C/kill will make d semi's is they shud beat S/Gaels & Fr.Daltons if they dont lose any more to their snr team,Nipper Dowdall scored 1-2 & Anthony Price scored 7 r 8 pts vs Cullion.D wood shud beat C/kill & will deffo beat S/Gaels and OP,der playin Delvin nxt & dat'll b interesting,Bridgets hammered d wood earlier in d yr.If C/Kill lose d rest of der games Turin shud sneak d last semi-spot by virtue of der win over Cullion. With so many games left no team is out of it completely.A full round is on nxt Tues & another round b4 d month ends, tings will start takin shape soon.Expect a big push from d wood to win the Adrian Murray Memorial cup b4 they go up to Senior B. stonemadbeany (USA) - Posts: 617 - 09/07/2009 14:18:42 338932 Link 0 |
The final four should be delvin, brigets, clonkill and the wood. it is prehaps to early to predict a winner, tuesday night might tell a tale (wood vs delvin) if the wood win comfortably the writing could be on the wall. delvin had a good draw against the much hyped bridgets. delvin shud be able to get a good account of where they are after the match tuesday night. i fear they lost some good players to travelling over the past year or so and are depending a lot on niall williams,if he gets injured there are under pressure for the year,on the other hand u have the wood who have started off slow but are beginning to show the few years senior has aided them, there a very young side and have won all there games without the brennans, newman and tormey who all shud be there come semis. hard beat to beat the wood i reckon. onionbags (Westmeath) - Posts: 1 - 10/07/2009 14:46:35 340660 Link 0 |
So, its looking like Clonkill, The Wood, Brigids and Delvin for semis. Turin have fallen apart in last two games. Cullion seem to be improving. Fr Daltons might also make it to Senior B manfromdelmonte (UK) - Posts: 541 - 17/07/2009 16:52:06 350035 Link 0 |
did Southern Gaels conceeded vs Daltons? manfromdelmonte (UK) - Posts: 541 - 26/07/2009 16:06:23 362585 Link 0 |
Sth.Gaels couldn field against Daltons, sad state of affairs for a town team, hard to keep goin with so much soccer, rugby & Gaelic fooball in d area I suppose. Not sure if they're pullin out of c/ship completely,if they do the co board will have to b careful in how they handle it.Turin beatin Delvin really opens up the race for d last 2 semi places,C/Wood look safe now & I expect a Brigids win vs Clonkill to put them in a good position. stonemadbeany (USA) - Posts: 617 - 27/07/2009 19:27:06 364861 Link 0 |
the co. board would have to declare all Gaels games null and void? sad state of affairs with the Gaels alright manfromdelmonte (UK) - Posts: 541 - 27/07/2009 22:19:27 365163 Link 0 |
they would also have to take points scored & conceded into consideration for teams that played them, this would alter the table abit too,Delvin hammered them but Turin didn play them yet & it may come down to scorin avg stonemadbeany (USA) - Posts: 617 - 28/07/2009 12:53:51 365963 Link 0 |
i think points are given for games not played but scoring differance cant be used to promote/relegate teams stats (None) - Posts: 27 - 28/07/2009 13:57:57 366115 Link 0 |
wood definitely senior b next year after that it could be any of the other teams getting the remaining 3 places asides from clonkill or plunketts 2nd teams who regardless if they get to the semis will be put in the regraded intermediate next year TomRyan (Westmeath) - Posts: 53 - 31/07/2009 02:47:05 370911 Link 0 |
most teams aim for a semi final spot, and wouldn't be as bothered about Senior B. there are some teams there who'd love to win intermediate afer years of trying, before the grades are changed. manfromdelmonte (UK) - Posts: 541 - 31/07/2009 11:56:52 371195 Link 0 |
Any1 know d result from d Brigids-Cullion game & d Turin-plunketts games last nite? D wood won ez & Daltons hammered clonkill,fair play 2 dem,gr8 progress 4 dem if they make d semis stonemadbeany (USA) - Posts: 617 - 07/08/2009 11:10:02 382331 Link 0 |
