Towns that belong in other counties

Aghagallon in Antrim should be Armagh. Wouldn't even think you'd see a man there wearing an Antrim top.
Coalisland has a South Armagh feel to it for some reason ;)

Donegal_abroad Leixlip is not an extension of Dublin! I lived in the capital for 7 years and moved to Leixlip last year. They are worlds apart. Even though there is a small geographical distance between Lucan (Dublin) and Leixlip (Kildare) there is a vast difference between attitudes. Even the accent differs in the short trip over the border. There is no part of Leixlip in Dublin as opposed to other towns around the country which are divided by county lines. I sure every Leixlip person would shout at the computer screen in anger at reading your post.

Sorry for the rant but i already feel a strong link with this town after only 10 months. One which i never felt with the capital!

Limerick Junction is in Tipp.
Abbeyfeale might be county Limerick but they think they are in Kerry!

West back of Derry city could be in Donegal. There's more connection with Inishowen than with the rest of Co Derry and the Foyle makes a natural county boundary.

Bundoran and ballyshannon could be in Leitrim, Sligo or fermanagh. Vice versa with kinlough in leitrim. It should be in donegal. I think there are something like 7 clubs in other counties nearer to it than the nearest one in leitrim. Manorhamilton. 15-20 minutes away.

Youghal in East Cork has a Waterford feel, Ardmore in Waterford vice-versa. Parts of north Clare feel like Galway. And if you go to east Waterford/Wexford during the summer months they definately have a Dublin feel(and sound) probably from all the Dubs down for their holidays.

Sorry Leeh! Didn't mean to upset you. Just that i lived in Maynooth for a good few years myself and that town, owing to the amount of dubs living there and the accent (hard to say North Kildare is much different to a Dublin accent, especially in the larger towns) it had a Dublin feel to it. Throw in Dublin Bus, the nearest cinema(s) are in Dublin (Liffey Valley, Blanchardstown), the throngs of people commuting from work in Dublin, thats all i was referring to!!!

Nice try barrowsider! As much as ye want Graiguecullen it aint going to happen!

As an outsider, Kilcock and Enfield might as well be in Meath. Having said that i'd say for anyone that grew up there it would be an insult of the highest order!

Ashbourne is grand exactly where it is!! Like it must be fine here seeing as all these Dubs have moved out here, no need to change it!

Yes Graiguecullen is actually attached to Carlow town, so it is a bit unusual that they are in Laois. But thats the way it is, since they left Carlow years ago.
That village makes up the whole rivalry between us, which i enjoy.

I remember even a few years ago when we were going to play westmeath in championship game in Portlaoise and at the time we had to go through Graigue. The whole place had found maroon flags from somewhere and signs were all over the roads out to wish westmeath luck etc!!

They are 100% Laois when it comes to football, but in everything else...shopping, working, nightlife etc they rely on Carlow.

Maynooth is definitely Kildare, James Nallen is from Crossmolina not Ballaghadereen and Kilcock is part kildare part meath - depending on how each county is fairing on c'ship...

Bundoran in the southern tip of Donegal definitely has a Connaught feel to it, Sligo/Leitrim-esque. Enhanced by the weird mixture of a Donegal accent which sounds west of Ireland at the same time.. Some would argue that Buncrana has a Derry feel to it. Maynooth/Celbridge and Leixlip are like extensions of Dublin i think!

Never heard anyone make that link before. Not a native of Buncrana but i'll tell ya know there is a bit of an unhealthy hatred for them ones in the "yella" back cars about here. Buncrana is very much a Donegal town, or should I say an Inishowen Town.

In a way Inishowen is a forgotten part of Donegal. The accents tend to be fairly different and unfortunately its a Soccer strong hold unlike the rest of the county bar maybe the east.
