Ok lads, relax a small bit!!Schlingerman is a good goalkeeper based on what he has done this year. I hadn't heard of the lad before this year but was very impressed with him, esp in the semi and final of the all ireland. I would however have to say that alot of the shots he saved (while good solid saves and very important) were hit more or less straight at him. in saying that he can only do what he is supposed to do and from that regard he done a great job. I feel overall that this year and subsequent years will be his acid test, as the saying goes "one swallow doesn't make a summer". I wish him the best and hope he proves that this year wasnt a once off.

Both Schlingerman and Hennelly are extremely talented keepers with good solid hands. I personally think Schlingerman shades it though with his ability under the high ball and his inch perfect kickouts. I think people may have forgotten what happened in Longford last year in the minor final replay in extra time. Hennelly really getting caught out under a high ball in the box resulting in a very soft goal that killed off any chances for them. I have seen Schlingerman play many times both in goals and outfield and I have never felt so assured when a high ball is approaching the goal mouth that it wont be flopped since his club mate Peter Burke was in his prime. When you combine this with his excellent shot stopping ability, perfect kickouts and overall reading of the game I think he is the best option for Mayo into the future between the sticks.

I have to agree with that.Diskin is a proven performer,although partial to the odd broken limb,when hes fit he is a top class goalie.

Gerard Murphy - Ballintubber U21 A county champion keeper.

Kept a clean sheet the whole campaign.
His fantastic finger-tipped save in the final was the turning point in many peoples view.

Im on slingers side for this 1 'berniemysterio',he played superbly last year. Class performances throughout the minor campaign.He showed in markievich park against galway that he has the ability and was the best man in that position,pulling of a litiny of crucial saves.Ya couldnt get a thing past the man.Solid as a rock.He'll be in with a great shout 2 since Ray managed the minors last year!

Ah yes,he picked it up during his ill-fated soccer days were he became renowned for being afraid of crosses.Thankfullly gaa has no crosses and his brute strength and imposing physique will add some stability.
