Greatest football team you have witnessed

PATRIQUE My point is tyrone playing tougher teams on route to final than kerry and in 05 if kerry had to meet the teams tyrone met they would not have got as far as tyrone did . And munster is so easy to get out of not like ulster and if kerry where in ulster they would find it hard to win a ulster title every few years .Not saying kerry are not a great team they are but have the easy route every single year .

Patrique, neither the Kerry or Tyrone teams of this decade make your top five teams. I'd be very interested to see your top five or ten teams.

ah it has to be tyrone of this decade.people always slag them about swarm defending but the way they attack in droves and their workrate is a joy to watch.there is no doubt about it that they are a cynical team but if the dubs were as succesful as tyrone have been i wouldnt care what other counties thought of us.what do tyrone fans think of tommy mcguigan and colm mccullagh,i think thats his name, the young blonde forward

Mickey linden and James mc cartan were 2 of the best forwards i have ever seen, they took dublin apart early in 94 final which was enough for Down to claim Sam

Your spot on there - the damage was done in the first half, but we had a fair bit of defending to do in the second.

Galway 1963-66. Played 4 - Won 3. Class team.

Honourable mention to Down:- 1960-61. A breath of fresh air that opened the gates for those good enough to follow.

I have no dount having watched the replays from the 70's and 80's that the greatest ever football teams are on the stage this decade. No hit and hope balls. Proper defending. Higher scoring, faster moving. As to who is the best team of the decade we can decide on the 3rd sunday in December. I think it has already been decided, but if they are to hold such a lofty title they will need to deliver this year again against the best team of so many other decades.

The current Kerry team are as good as the current Tyrone team. There isn't much difference between them.
However Kerry of the 80's were by far the greatest team I've ever witnessed.

Kerry '75 - '86 the best no argument.
Kerry present '00- present played in 7 finals won 4 to date
Dublin '75- '83
Tyrone '03-- present
Galway '63- '66 played in 4 finals won 3

rivalry between Kerry and Dubs in 70s and 80s and Kerry and Tyrone today make these teams special Galway didn't have much opposition in the 60s.
1 question mark over the present Kerry team is are we talking about 1 or 2 teams or maybe if the go on could we be talking about 3 or 4 as only Dara and Tomas remain from '00 as far as I know.

Chainsaw, that Galway team played Kerry in the '63 semi-final and the finals of '64 and '65. They beat them in all three matches. They also played them in a league final at that time and beat them . It was an intense rivalry that boiled over in the '65 final when three men were sent off.

My earliest memory was the'62 final and I was staying with Kerry relatives around that time their belief was that it was a poor Kerry team too many converted backs playing in the forwards interested to know what Kerry posters might say of that team.
