Not involved with politics at all Pat. As you know it's crooked on both sides of the border. A bit like horseracing it depends on whose turn it is to win.

any of ye hear O'Gara's comments on SSN Friday night? Munster people dont care about Ireland, Munster is their country and they dont support Ireland. As a Limerick Dweller for many years now and an avid Munster fan, i was livid. This fella is a great player, but shouldn't have made such a statement. Imagine the furore if BOD said it about Leinster! The people of the south would be organising marches to take the captaincy off him. And to be honest, as a semi Limerick man, I can say with 100% certainty, its BS! Maybe in Cork it might be true, peoples republic and all, but not in Limerick, not in the REAL Munster heartland!

Spot on liam. Unfortunately that attitude does exist..in fans and in the players im afraid. It doesnt seem to mean as much to some of the munster players/fans to win with their country. And that should be the be all and end all. But no one wants to upset the bandwagon. Sky sports want to keep their darling team and keep hyping it up. I mean the heineken cup is only five minutes old. The six/five nations is the real institution but it has been sidelined by this guff of a 'journey' for munster. One that lasted about 5 years. The real passion should be for the national team. Has it somethin to do with the anthems issue? Does it not make us feel as irish as the soccer team? Anyway roll on the six nations....

Outrageous remarks alright! You wouldn't hear any of the Ulster lads saying anything like that :-)

I'd consider him to be a "whingy tool" tbh, so myself and Morrissey a have something in common at least. I like some of the smiths stuff but find most of his solo stuff very average, pub band music. So many people are fanatical about him though, so he must be doing something right.

Good to see Darren Gibson starting tonight. Alot of respect for him for fighting to play for his country (and before you say it patrique, by his country i mean by where his heart belongs), also hes another Derry Lad:). Good luck to him and the rest, a win tonight would be a great result, might start to get a bit excited then.

Gibson is the first Northern Ireland born player to play for Ireland in 71 years. Surprised me! It was in the Sun today so it must be true.

Just going back to the whole ROG and Munster/Ireland debate, is it not also the case for our GAA/Compromised Rules players?

Some players prefer to play with their clubs and win rather than their counties and win. I've heard the line; "Ah winning with the parish means more cos I've grown up with these lads" more times than not. Some prefer to play with their counties and win than their country and win, eg. lads pulling out of the Compromised Rules team. Same difference! Sure Tommy Walsh and/or Killian Young will pull out to play with their club. And Sean Cavanagh probably (just my opinion) would have as well if he wasn't captain.

O' Gara feels that with Munster it's more of a close knit family thing. Playing, training and travelling all over Europe with lads you've known all the way up from roughly 17 years of age until your mid 30s. With Ireland the team selections and infrequent matches/training do not create a "family atmosphere".

I'm sure soccer is the same. Players probably get on better with their club mates rather than international team mates. Ask Stephen Ireland.

So don't give me this story that ROG is some sort of "traitor" because he feels his allegiance lies with Munster rather than Ireland.

I have to say I agree with Grumpy last night! Our centre of midfield was non-existent and we were blessed to win. Against Italy we'd have been hammered. Its alright for the manager of Spain or Italy to have a tiff with a star player - plenty of cover - not so, Ireland. A pair of rookies in the centre with two better midfielders on the bench is not on. Add in the matter of Stephen 'anyone but' Ireland and you see how short we are in key areas. We will lose players through injuries, suspensions etc but we cannot afford to not play the best players we have. We did not do that last night. What we may have in Mr Trap is a very lucky manager - for a change.
