I had my doubts about Faldo as well but he seems to have his head screwed on. I don't think it will be an easy win for Europe but I think they will retain the cup. oisinboy (Antrim) - Posts: 335 - 18/09/2008 15:51:09 102619 Link 0 |
holymoly - the media drove that story all summer..ok so ronaldo dint help things by not saying for definite he was staying but at no point did he say he wanted to go. stories about ronaldos mothers best freinds cousin tellin the papers that he wanted to sign for madrid. absolute nonsense. if i remember correctly he said after the CL final he was staying but Madrid and the media kept on at it while he was preparing for the euro championship. howshecuttin (Longford) - Posts: 376 - 18/09/2008 16:03:46 102628 Link 0 |
Faldo's a class a *****, thats for sure, but I think Europe will win this easily... USA sont seem to have much interest in it. Europe 21/20 on PP.... essexile (Mayo) - Posts: 429 - 18/09/2008 16:04:34 102630 Link 0 |
Faldo was always a big of a head da ball! I can see him trying to take the limelight himself where as the captain should just be in the background i can see him ******* off people. But maybe not the strongest u.s team a lot of rookies but it's a real american style golf course. But hopefully Europe should do it. Is this the same Nick Faldo who kept his "secret" list of pairing in a piece of paper in his pocket and then dropped it and it was picked up by the press? Spanner! And then he claimed it was just the lunch order! Yeah, Padraic and Graeme just happen to both want a Jumbo breakfast roll and a Flora Proactive. Nothing to do with them playing together. US to win. Purely down to Faldo. denzel (None) - Posts: 452 - 18/09/2008 16:16:56 102641 Link 0 |
howshecuttin - Maybe he didn't go this season but you can't help but think he wants away from the place. Granted most of this is down to media speculation but like you say he never said he wanted to leave but he never said he wanted to stay either. I think the reason Man Yoo fans were cheering him was more down to the fact that they have still held onto their favorite player. holymoly (Dublin) - Posts: 757 - 18/09/2008 16:25:08 102645 Link 0 |
howshecuttin ronaldo came out after the European championship and told a Portuguese radio station that he wanted to go. Even ferguson admitted ronaldo wanted to go. Sure ferguson even flew over to ronaldo at the Portuguese training camp to persuade him to stay. 3inarow08 (Kerry) - Posts: 2455 - 18/09/2008 16:28:15 102647 Link 0 |
Heard the whole Ronaldo thing was to draw the attention away from Fergie's own transfer dealings. He didn't want Chelsea sniffing around, remember Robben,Essien,Mikel,Boswinga just to name a few, Chelsea don't have scouts they have spys who following the Man Utd scouts. Irish sport seems to really be on the up lately. Nicholas Roche finished second in the 18th stage of the Vuelta a Espana (Spain's answer to the Tour De France) and now lies in 13th place overall just over 11 minutes off Alberto Contador who is the leader and the likely winner. Considering he is only 24, it looks like he is well on the road to emulating his father Stephen one day. Loyal2TheRoyal (Meath) - Posts: 4522 - 19/09/2008 10:06:20 102976 Link 0 |

Who will get this years Irish sportsperson of the year Padraig Harrington, Ken Egan or Jason Smyth(the sprinter)? Clash-of-da-ash (Galway) - Posts: 927 - 19/09/2008 10:43:20 103022 Link 0 |
I thing Padraig Harrington should get it. If Harrington has a good ryder cup he will get it. Though Jason Smyth will be close oisinboy (Antrim) - Posts: 335 - 19/09/2008 10:53:33 103030 Link 0 |
Ruby seems to be riding every second winner at Listowel this week so it is likely he will have another one or two today. Not sure about any of Martin's horses. If there was money around for either, then maybe I would back them. On the other hand, that Northern Alliance could have a stone or two in hand. Impossible to second guess that man sometimes. Best of luck today, Sam whatever you back. Loyal2TheRoyal (Meath) - Posts: 4522 - 19/09/2008 10:56:21 103036 Link 0 |
Was thinking the exact same thing myself this morning Clash. I think its a question of who will finish runner up to Harrington though? Loyal2TheRoyal (Meath) - Posts: 4522 - 19/09/2008 10:57:21 103039 Link 0 |
