I had my doubts about Faldo as well but he seems to have his head screwed on. I don't think it will be an easy win for Europe but I think they will retain the cup.

holymoly - the media drove that story all summer..ok so ronaldo dint help things by not saying for definite he was staying but at no point did he say he wanted to go. stories about ronaldos mothers best freinds cousin tellin the papers that he wanted to sign for madrid. absolute nonsense. if i remember correctly he said after the CL final he was staying but Madrid and the media kept on at it while he was preparing for the euro championship.

considering he was booed when he came back from the world cup for getting rooney sent off he got a great reception. the place erupted when he came on because real man utd fans knew he was staying and that he is the best player in the world.

Faldo was always a big of a head da ball! I can see him trying to take the limelight himself where as the captain should just be in the background i can see him ******* off people. But maybe not the strongest u.s team a lot of rookies but it's a real american style golf course. But hopefully Europe should do it.

Is this the same Nick Faldo who kept his "secret" list of pairing in a piece of paper in his pocket and then dropped it and it was picked up by the press? Spanner! And then he claimed it was just the lunch order! Yeah, Padraic and Graeme just happen to both want a Jumbo breakfast roll and a Flora Proactive. Nothing to do with them playing together.

howshecuttin - Maybe he didn't go this season but you can't help but think he wants away from the place. Granted most of this is down to media speculation but like you say he never said he wanted to leave but he never said he wanted to stay either. I think the reason Man Yoo fans were cheering him was more down to the fact that they have still held onto their favorite player.
The real measure of the Man Yoo fans appreciation for Ronaldo will be whether they would give him a good reception at old trafford if he was wearing a Real jersey next season.

howshecuttin ronaldo came out after the European championship and told a Portuguese radio station that he wanted to go. Even ferguson admitted ronaldo wanted to go. Sure ferguson even flew over to ronaldo at the Portuguese training camp to persuade him to stay.

And to say he's the best in the world? Not even close. Messi Kaka and Gerrard are miles better.

Heard the whole Ronaldo thing was to draw the attention away from Fergie's own transfer dealings. He didn't want Chelsea sniffing around, remember Robben,Essien,Mikel,Boswinga just to name a few, Chelsea don't have scouts they have spys who following the Man Utd scouts.

Irish sport seems to really be on the up lately. Nicholas Roche finished second in the 18th stage of the Vuelta a Espana (Spain's answer to the Tour De France) and now lies in 13th place overall just over 11 minutes off Alberto Contador who is the leader and the likely winner. Considering he is only 24, it looks like he is well on the road to emulating his father Stephen one day.

Ruby seems to be riding every second winner at Listowel this week so it is likely he will have another one or two today. Not sure about any of Martin's horses. If there was money around for either, then maybe I would back them. On the other hand, that Northern Alliance could have a stone or two in hand. Impossible to second guess that man sometimes. Best of luck today, Sam whatever you back.

I dont know a lot about financial stuff apart from the fact that Im loaded, but this doesnt make sense to me:
The other night there was a TV programme called 'Why the Banks Never loose!'. I didnt watch it but I presume it was stating how the banks simply put up their charges on the customer to cover any defecit! OK!
Why is it that when these banks get into trouble like Northern Rock etc and the gang in the US, the people who still bail them out is the taxpayer!

What Im saying is: Why does the taxpayer come to the rescue of the institutions who have been ripping them off in the first place??

Can any financial person out there explain?

Harrington has to get it no matter what any Irish sports person does for the rest of the year.

Ken Egan did well in the Olympics but got a silver.

Harrington has won two majors this year back-to-back and IMO this is the greatest sporting achievement ever by an Irish person.
