Lads if Poulter was Irish and Clarke English, ye would up in arms if he had picked Clarke....and thats the truth! But of Nationalism going on here! I see the Ryder Cup Veterans Sjy said were up in arms are Walton, Smyth and Gallagher. 2 of them Irish, the other Clarkes best mate in Golf!! Darren is a legend, but Casey was a no brainer and Poulter earned it. Saying its cos they are English is a cop out and an easy excuse.
As for the transfer market......SSN is a joke of a channel and even worse is the clowns who spent all say in front of the tele waiting to hear "the news". Youd sware it was important! City fans excluded, I can genuinely understand their excitement after so many years in the shadow. If it was Everton no doubt I would be the same. Berbatov will be a great signing, but comparisons to Cantona are repetitive and rubbish. Robinho could be great but I would bet it will be a disaster. We (everton) just spent 20m Euros on some Belgian who is barely old enough to to get into the deep end of a swimming pool!!!!!

90057 Clarke is very inconsistant of late. Too much of a risk. Poulter was 2nd in British Open and is playing reasonably well.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You have to remember Clarke is now a single parent and wants to spend as much time with his boys as he can. He can't play as much as polter as he has no responsibilities yet Clarke for someone who has only played in about 20 tournaments this year still has had better results than poulter

What nonsense fella what about the yanks theyve already said theyre very suprised by it. Clarke has been a good ryder cup player before so why change a winning side if everyone is fit and well leave it be. Clarke obviously was dropped due to where hes from. Clarke has played well where he has been able to play an theres no other reason for his absence from the squad. As for your last sentence its sounds more like something ballboy would say.

Liam what is wrong with a bit of Nationalism?
Leaving that aside can you not analyse the facts? Darren Clarke has had 7 top 10 finishes this year and has had two victories; he has moved up the rankings from over 250 to just outside the top 50 in less than a year.
Poulter has had one top 20 finish all year; he didn't even bother to compete for his place on the team (if he had finsihed in the top 3 last weekend he would have qualified automatically) instead he decided to play for big dollars in the US, where he missed the cut. If the issue was his nationality then why would we be accepting the picking of Casey?
You are mistaking Nationalism and Patriotism for the cold hard facts and are trying to demean other opinions, despite what you might think, your opinion is not always correct and on this occasion it is illinformed and petty.

This seems to be only the beginning for City....I'm excited about Berbatov now!To be honest(And I'd say a few will agree with me here,United fans anyway)...I wasn't to pushed for Berbatov to come in until i heard City were in for him....I was praying he would come then...Any one agree?

Clarke definetly deserves to be in there....The man has serious bottle when it comes to the sport!Don't rate Poulter as highly as Clarke!

Was just looking at Chelski's website there...Have a look lads quite funny on the forums!

I want Europe to win the ryder cup I usually stick some money on them to win. I honestly though from the start that faldo was going to be a disaster.

Liam even the British media were very surprised by the choice. A lot of English agree with the fact that Clarke should be there. As I have already said he is in an impossible situation wanting to spend time with his kids and play golf. I know if I was in that situation I would want to be with my family. If he dedicated himself to golf he would be ripped to pieces by the media for not being with his family.

If he could commit himself like the other players he would have qualified automatically.

Got forwarded these Dunphy Quotes today, thought the were worth sharing. Some classics On Luis Garcia: "They (Liverpool) should put Garcia where he belongs - in the dustbin." On Djibril Cisse: "here we have Cisse, right wing, attempts to put in a cross, BANG...hits the full back, again BANG hits the full back, BANG...off the full back again, and once more, BANG...smacks the full back again.... Millions of euro and he can't clear the first man, I mean...what's he trying to do to the full back here, Kill him??" On Harry Kewell: "Kewell should have been yanked off the pitch at half time and put in a hot bath, a boiling hot bath." "Fat and a clown. A fat clown for all to see." On Rio Ferdinand: "Ferdinand is a clown. He was a liability for the first goal and he is always a liability. It was Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink against Rio Ferdinand of Barclays Bank." "a tramp" On Fabio Cannavarro: "If Rio Ferdinand is worth £100,000 a week, then this guy is worth ?100 million . . . . . a day" On Liam Brady (After Ireland lost a two goal lead against Holland in 1983): "He is often looked on as a great player. He is nothing of the kind. His performance on Wednesday was a disgrace, a monument to conceit adorned with vanity and self-indulgence, rendered all the more objectional by the swagger of his gait. He was deemed by many observers to have had a splendid game." On Niall Quinn: "I'm not gonna address the Niall Quinn agenda, Niall Quinn is a creep" "The man's an idiot, a Mother Theresa" On Barcelona: "After watching Watford against Manchester City last night that was like a bubblebath. It was beautiful." On Garth Crooks and Sven Goran Eriksson: "ha, ha, ha, that's the first time you'll see *** between 2 men live on the BBC" During the coverage of Euro 2004: "You need dictatorships and poverty to produce great footballers." On Christiano Ronaldo: the way Ronaldo "clicks his heels", is the "most wicked thing in the game." "a simple cheat" "Poof ball" On Mick McCarthy: "He's one of the biggest whingers in world football... he's a bloody eejit." On Kevin Kilbane: "Kilbane's head is better than his feet. If only he had three heads, one on the end of each leg." On John Giles: "Usually it takes a bottle of Bacardi and a gallon of Coke to get John out of his seat." On Michael Carrick: "Carrick was signed for Spurs a few years back for £3m. That's the level he is at. He is a nothing player. He is one-paced. He doesn't have the personality to always get on the ball like a United player should. " Before the Liverpool .v. Real Betis game at Anfield when Roy Keane announced his retirement from football Bill O'Herlihy stated that in the column about Roy a journalist called him a thug. Dunphy continued roaring at Bill asking him who's column it was. Bill replied it was on the back page of the Sunday Times. "Look at it" he told Eamon. Eamon still pestered him asking who wrote it. Bill replied "I can't remember his name". Eamon continued saying: "I'll tell you who wrote it, Rod Liddle, he's the guy who ran away and left his wife for a young one". On about the Fergie V Strachen feud: Eamon: "Scots they're either nice or they're horrid and these two are horrid. Bill: "The Scots wont like that Eamon, thats bordering on racism". Eamon: "Its not racism its ethnic criticism Bill". On the stubborn climate which exists in the board room at Real Madrid: "Bill, Bill... those directors over there are on another planet. They're on mushrooms or something...THEY'RE ON ACID BILL!!!" On John Hartson: 'Bill, Hartson is not a 7million pound player....its a disgrace, a shambles! This is the state of football today Bill. I have a clip here of why Hartson is NOT a £7million player....Roll it there Bill! (literally 1 second in to the clip) OKAY, HOLD IT THERE BILL!!! (draws a circle around Hartson's ****) Bill, that is NOT the **** of a £7million player!''

I think Martin Kaymer should be more dissappoited than Clarke seeing as he was ahead of Casey in the points list.

As a Manchester City fan, season ticket holder for many years when I lived there, I am distraught. City always took pride in being a simple football club, instead of a multi-national conglomerate. Alas soccer is now all about money.

Now there is talk of winning trophies and such, which puts all the enjoyment out of the game. I enjoy following Antrim and City. Now people want to win things.

Where's the fun in that?

Rate these clubs in order of sieze, taking all things into account.
Spurs, City, Everton, Newcastle
personally,
1. Everton - Massive support, more trophies than the other 3 combined! 4th most successful club in English Football History
2. Spurs - Huge support, european trophy, huge potential
3. City - Massive Support, great tradition.
4. Newcastle - Massive support and very very little else!

The other day I was in stitches laughing when the Gardai launched their new 'tactical dress' for dangerous situations as seen on the news that evening.
A Garda spokesman stated that it would not be a question of "Gardai getting changed on the side of the road" and yet he then said that 'Gardai would only take a matter of seconds to get into the tactical suit'. I fell about the place laughing at the thought of a little Guard pulling on a tactical uniform about 3 sizes too big for him and looking like a telly tubby and meanwhile the raiders are getting away and the other Guard, mindfull that he should not be seen getting changed at the side of the is sitting behind the wheel of the car with the seat let back trying to pull on his tactical suit which is 3 sizes too small for him and the gear stick riding up the leg of his trowsers while he foosters to try and sort himself out. All the while, the raiders have stolen the money, burned the evidence and are back home!

Another 'pure Irish' solution to another 'pure Irish' problem.

For all that, may I congratulate the 'Guardians of the Peace' and any other agencies involved in the big haul of contraband yesterday!.....Great job lads!
Once again, like the haul down in Dunlough Bay, lets hope the judiciary stay in touch with the desires of the people they are supposed to serve and put these sub-humans away forever!!
