No Sam - Hession 5th. Both boxers guaranteed at least bronze. Barnes has a really sticky semi but you never know. Egan looks really comfortable and final is a real possibility I think! JayoCluxton (Dublin) - Posts: 2688 - 19/08/2008 14:45:18 79313 Link 0 |

Very exciting stuff, RTE had to resort to the split screen. Hession recorded a time 20.38 - the tenth fastest of anyone. Therefore he is in the Top 10 of 200m sprinters. Egan fighting a British lad in the semi, promises to be a real good fight. Loyal2TheRoyal (Meath) - Posts: 4522 - 19/08/2008 14:49:45 79325 Link 0 |

dissapointing for hession, looked really impressive in the quarters, but fair play to him he has done well. well done to both boxers, didn't see either fight but egan both have looked really good in earlier rounds. good luck to both,go for gold samin10 (Armagh) - Posts: 2434 - 19/08/2008 14:50:02 79326 Link 0 |

Brilliant for the 2 boxers. Paddy Barnes has his work cut out but CAN beat the Chinese boxer though it will be interesting to see how the pointscoring goes there. Ken Egan is class and looks the best fighter at his weight. He has every chance of a gold. Sutherland has a tough fight but I think he will win, the momentum is with the boxers. Well done to the boxing coaches and officials, Billy Walsh and his team have them very well prepared. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9840 - 19/08/2008 15:02:51 79343 Link 0 |

Wasn't it great to see Christine Ohuruogu, who last summer completed a one-year ban for missing three out-of-competition drugs tests, win Olympic gold for GB. Class - wha'! Dubinmeath (Dublin) - Posts: 1123 - 19/08/2008 16:11:55 79471 Link 0 |

Lads, excuse my ignorance. Both our fighters have made it through to their respective semi finals in the Olympics-both at different weights. green and gold (Donegal) - Posts: 105 - 19/08/2008 16:42:11 79528 Link 0 |

Because its a contact sport. It has to do with the fact that the semi-finalists have both lost their last bout (and could have got a hiding) and the officials don't like them fighting again so soon after a defeat. Doesn't apply in other sports. JayoCluxton (Dublin) - Posts: 2688 - 19/08/2008 17:02:03 79565 Link 0 |

whats the point, dont think either fighter would be giving it their all to get 3rd place. samin10 (Armagh) - Posts: 2434 - 19/08/2008 17:03:42 79572 Link 0 |
