Any tips for the Galway races?

Yes don't waste your money unless you have "inside information". A joke of festival in terms of racing. Apparantly, the week is great craic but the standard of horses running is very low bar the big races on Wednesday and Thursday. There was some amount of money lost yesterday and I would say there will be equally as much lost tonight. A great week to be a bookie.

was there last year myself for ladies day. never seen so many good looking women and helicopters in the one place. nightmare to win a few pound tho. the standard of racing is terrible. bookies clean up altogether. a serious few days of craic tho...was mental drunk for the few days i was down there...and i'd do it all again.the women on ladies day may watch out.

The big race of the week at Galway is on today so I have decided to give my expert opinion on it. O.K. I am going to go for Oslot and the one and only Ruby Walsh in the Galway Plate - I think it is the 3.40.

I spent hours on the Racing Post website last night, trying to find a flaw in its armour and a horse who could take advantage of that but I simply can't. 5/1 is a great price for this and it will take a deluge of rain between now and then to even slightly hamper its chances.

For those of you who like to back an outsider, then Bailey Breeze is my advice to you in the same race at 33/1.

Across the Irish Sea, is where the proper horses are on show today and if you get a chance, watch HenrytheNavigator in Goodwood's Sussex Stakes. Or even watch him on the news tonight. He is a joy to watch - an incredible horse - but unfortunetely the price of 1/2 won't attract too many of the 5euro punters.

Can't find the joke thread so -

I THINK YOU'RE THE FATHER OF ONE OF MY KIDS...

A guy goes to the supermarket and notices an attractive woman waving at him. She says hello. He's rather taken aback because he can't place where he knows her from. So he says, 'Do you know me?' To which she replies, 'I think you're the father of one of my kids.'

Now his mind travels back to the only time he has ever been unfaithful to his wife and says, 'Are you the stripper from the bachelor party that I made love to on the pool table with all my buddies watching while your partner whipped my butt with wet celery???'

She looks into his eyes and says calmly, 'No, I'm your son's teacher.'

Anybody got anything to say about Gareth Barry's proposed move to Villa falling through.....fair play to the Villa, they held their ground, but Liverpool have been shabby in this whole episode!!! Barry must be feeling quite unwanted right now, but still a good player!!!!

I suppose ye are all waiting in anticipation to see who Loyal2TheRoyal tips up today after he gave you all a massive 5/1 winner yesterday. Well, I am glad to say, ye are not going to be disappointed. The big race of the day is The Galway Handicap Hurdle, a great betting race and almost impossible to pick the winner of. However, I spent hours looking over this race and the one I have come up with is the 25/1 outsider Merveillies. I could bore ye all with reasons why I think he will win but I won't, just take it from me that he will win. Ye can all thank me later.

I've got a gripe about paying the TV license anymore, so that guy on the ad calling around to peoples homes wont get an excuse, he''ll get an earfull.
I see now that we have some new 'Failte Towers' rubbish with make-believe 'celebrities' in it!
Anyone else absolutely sick of this rubbish?
"Celebrity Im a chef in the jungle doing a make-over on a house to get into the Eurovision to sing for the charity of my choice!"
What rubbish next?
How much more trash must we endure?
Bring back: "Chips"...."The man from UNCLE"....."The Fugitive".

I see in the paper today that temperatures in Iceland have been over 10 degrees higher than normal this week. Surely that can't be good for all their frozen food stock!

Just wondering do any of yis have an eircom email account? They were making changes to it recently and seem to have made a complete pigs ear of it. Its slow and almost inaccessible now - and there was nothing wrong with it before they made the changes! Anyone any similar experiences or obs?
