alright, its the weekend of the oaks and the derby and i would be disappointed if both prizes don't come across the sea and back to ireland. in fact both could be headed towards coolcullen in carlow as the jim bolger pair of lush lashes and new approach look like they will take all the beating. i personally cannot see anything other than a new approach victory in the derby tomorrow and he will give ireland their first derby winner since high chapparral in 2002. the oaks is more tricky today but it could pay to side with lush lashes. in the other group one of the weekend, the coronation cup, another irish win could be immenent in the shape of soldier of fortune.

jayo, samin10, horse, any opinions of do ye follow the flat season?

had said a week or so ago torres for top goal scorer and spain to win. changed my mind as spain are on the tougher side of the draw. going to go for ronaldo and portugal and 22-1 although klose and germany are also worth a bet at 18-1, as one or the other will be in the final, think at those prices could afford to back both.

King of Rome for the Derby, its a big call from Murtagh considering he has never ridden him in a race before and at 12/1 it represents great value for an O Brien horse in a Derby.

enrico think your prob right about the derby. certainly worth an ew bet.

I think its a bad sign when the thread with the most posts on here is the non-gaa one!

Read in the Indo that the three New Zealanders on the Munster Rugby team have been dropped. They were seen running and passing the ball.

well what can i say? some tips. soldier of fortune wins going away at 9/4 and new approach justifies my confidence winning at 5/1 (had my biggest ever bet on him). it was a pity that lush lashes could not complete the treble but she did finish an honourable fifth despite blatantly not staying.

Just don't back Meath, Loyal - ever!!!!! Seriously was glad for Bolger but I'd love to see Weld winning a Derby! Good article about O'Brien in I Times today - VINCENT that is!! - amazing man.

ye vincent o'brien was a bit before my time but still the undisputed king of irish horse racing. i was happy enough to see an irish win in the race and nobody deserves it more than jim bolger. a derby win would be the ising on the cake for dermot weld, after all he has conquered america (belmont stakes) and australia (melbourne cup).

does anyone follow the usa racing; it was a bit disappointing to see big brown fail in his quest for racing immortality tonight. would have rewrote the history books had he won.

no talk on euro 2008? i'll start so.who will win? top scorer?will it be another underdog like greece? any views? personally I would have to say spain, germany, france or italy may win.i'd give an outside chance to croatia even though they didnt look too compromising today against austria. klose or torres to be top scorer outside chance toni

Having watched Iarla O'Neill (chairman of Referendum Commission) on the TV take a 4 minute silence to answer a simple question on the 'solidarity' clause I think it is now time to treat this govt with the contempt it deserves and vote NO!
We have a minister in europe who has stated that he does not expect everyone in the country to read the treaty through and that he has "not even read it myself"! As our european minister I expect you to be the countries absolute 'expert' on the treaty rather than state publicly that you have not even read it!!
They say that 'all politics is local' and by coming out with a statement like that, our minister might find out just how local it really is!!

On the fence. I will be voting no. I read most of the gobbly gook wording and nowhere did I find that Kerry are by law entitled to state every September 'Ta athas orm an corn son a glacadh' This treaty bears no resemblance to reality.

I'd say Germany to win. Sweden or Russia to be a surprise and Luca Toni to be top scorer.
