One Rule: you only have one choice Packie Mc Garty is my choice, one of the games greatest. Never won a Connaught championship, he played in 4 finals in a row, all lost to Galway. He played county senior football before he played minor and featured for leitrim in 4 decades. His lack of silverware tarnishes his brilliance, have a look for some match reports in games he played in for an idea of what he was like. Gun to head id go for John McDermott, but incase anyone wants to tear me a new one for this choice im only basing my opinion from say 96-present because i was too young to remember much before that. Htaem (Meath) - Posts: 8657 - 16/04/2009 15:37:10 259104 Link 0 |
I didn't see people like Mick Mackey play so can't comment on those, but I have to go for Ciaran Carey. He made his debut V Kerry in 1989, his first game V the big 3 was at wing forward V Tipperary in June 1989, excelled at midfield and centre back, scored one of the best & most crucial points V Clare in 1996 and still managed to play on the Intermediate team that lost the All-Ireland final to Kilkenny last year at full back. slayer (Limerick) - Posts: 6480 - 16/04/2009 15:42:45 259116 Link 0 |

Colm O'Rourke is the best I had the privilege to see in a Meath jersey. Took the knocks and gave them in equal measure but when push came to shove in important games, he was always the one to show leadership. Nobody get the Meath crowd going like him - a real legend in the county. Roger (Meath) - Posts: 480 - 16/04/2009 15:47:34 259125 Link 0 |

It's a cliched choice at this stage but it's gotta be Nudie. mid-mon man (Monaghan) - Posts: 1680 - 16/04/2009 15:59:09 259142 Link 0 |
Probably Mairtín beag! Have to say my favourite player was Martin Shovlin though. Not many of his type playing these days. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9823 - 16/04/2009 16:04:47 259158 Link 0 |
