Should drinking be banned in Croke Park?

To be able to abide the disgusting brand of football being played by most teams these days you would need a barrell full of drink.

Personally i think you should be breathalised going into Croke Park and unless you have at least 4 pints on you then you get refused entry. Of course knowing the GAA they'd probably breathalise you going out aswell just to make sure you bought a few more pints inside.........and if you didn't then you don't get to leave till you do.

The Dubs should probably drink a little bit more on June 7th, you know to try and erase the painfull memories we're going leave yous :-)

drink should not be banned, we are not english soccer hooligans! but if there is someone who is drunk then they should be ejected just like any other public place. someones right to enjoy a drink while watching the game should not be taken away.

Its a very interesting question... whether drink should be banned in Croker!

I dont think it should be banned, as the majority of people behave themselves properly and can only access drink in small quantities in the grounds. A few times in Croker i have had a drink and have not been able to focus well on the game, so i have a drink after the game. On a few occasions there has been someone close to me with a few drinks but they do not and are not allowed to bring their drink to their seats, unlike the rugger boys.

They are allowed to bring drink to their sets and they bring in a lot of whiskey , brandy etc in!

I am not a fan of these games starting late on Sundays in Thurles , Limerick, Cork etc as the stewards have to face a lot of young fellas coming late and 'full' to the stiles.

So to answer th question... leave it as it is, it gives good employment, it gives a lot of supporters th option of having a drink and keep the drink in the present places and not in the seats.

Drink and the GAA go hand in hand. One cannot survive without the other.

I have been in Austaralia for years now and it is allowed in every stadium and never becomes a problem. It is part and parcel of going to the game. Grab a couple of beers on a tray before the match a couple more at half time. If it is your want you can go to the pub after the game if not you can go home, no harm done. There are areas in the stadiums that are drink free and people who are worried about their children being surrounded by drink can sit in these areas but you often see Dad/Mum enjoying a couple of drinks in the licensed area with the children along side them all having a good day/night and enjoying the game. If it is done properly and sensibly there is no reason why drink shouldnt be allowed in Croke Park.

Stadiums all over the world allow drinking. Drinking is not a GAA problem it's a cultural problem that needs to be tackles at education, government and parent level.

In a pub is different say in your local you know everyone and it is ok for children to be there during the day. And it does not promote the right things with drinking in gaa grounds surely poeple could wait till after the game.
