Good to see a spread of teams winning the juvenile A hurling titles. No longer the preserve of the Ards teams. Carryduff too the U14s Liatroim the 16s and Portaferry the minor. Need to get a good mix on the Down senior team. It is the only way forward if we are to become a force again. We must put the effort and money in to the development squads and bring in the talent from all over the county

Our county Minors are Ulster champions too are they not? How well represented are the clubs from outside the Ards on that successful side?

Couldn't field?? What's going on?

Where have all the Carryduff poster gone? They were all over this site this time last year talking about "The up and coming club" in Down.

I dont think Carryduff are the only club not to field a team this year, I know quite a few who wouldnt play us at various age levels. As for up and coming we still won an A championship at underage which is more than 2 of the Ards clubs did and us a football club!!!!

Do you think down division 1and 2 should be joined together and just have the one league next year? It'll give the division 2 teams more of a chance when it comes to championship because both divisions are now competing for the junior so may as well give them boys better games to try to get up to that level.

Think they should, more games is only better for hurling in the county overall. Plus it would mean more fixtures being played. The leagues this year have been a shambles in terms of games haven't been played, especially in Div 2. 13 teams would have 6 fixtures every week and one team has a bye. 24 matches for each team which would be great, it should start in March and finish up before the championship, so it should be Monday and possibly Wednesday/Thursday night, as long as postponed games get sorted out within 7 days!

BB what makes ye think that the league would produce more games. Div1 has not completed for the past 5 years!!!!!!!!!! there r still outstanding games.

Every team would have 24 fixtures (12 home 12 away) if they were in the one league instead of 10-14 cahill. Shocking that the leagues are never completed, especially when whoever wins or who gets relegated has already been decided, the attitude is just like "well there's nothing to play for now." You wouldn't see it in Div 3/4 football

It is a directive from head quarters that every senior hurler should get at least 12 games a season. Thank goodness the ards clubs dinny have 2 depend on down for their games, we wud b playin in November, o dats right we will the Joe McCrickard cup is still playin.

I believe Newry/Warrenpoint played Ballygalget over the weekend there in the Intermediate Championship. Does anyone know how it went?

What's the story with the Intermediate Championship? Who played on that team against Ballygalget on Sunday? I would imagine Bredagh would be in the Intermediate Championship next year or if they went to Senior would they represent Down in Ulster? Something for the County Board to look at.
