Aye Kilclief would be windy alright! Low return from both sides especially Kilclief, Liatroim and Castlewellan was very close, both sides will rue missed chances, flukey breaks and strange ref decisions, Liatroims skill just getting them across the line in the second half. Clonduff and Shamrocks used their match in the Down league as well as the Ulster league they're both in Div 4B, another close game with Clonduff making the most out of their chances. Ballyvarley started flying against Ballela and raked up a big half time lead but Ballela clawed their way back with their notorious deadliness in front of goal, but Ballyvarley held on for the win. Carryduff got a decent 6 point win against their near neighbours down in the city, interesting results indeed Frank, these could be tight leagues this year, every side is capable of beating each other in their league, time will tell!

Carryduff were outstanding last night. Solid performance from them, as they outclassed a quite frankly, very weak Bredagh side. Well done Carryduff!! :)

Very impressive result for Carryduff. They are definitly the up and coming team in Down. Expect a challenge in the league this year.

They'll retain the JHC no bother and hopefully havin learnt from the experince last year they'll give Ulster a good rattle.

Brilliant quote Frank. Yet more dribble coming out of Carryduff. From what i heard Bredagh threw it away in the second half. Missed alot of handy frees etc.. But sure great performance from the duff. Im sure the Crans,Ports,Galgets are quaking in there boots. I wonder how there Ulster Run this year will go.

Oh are Carryduff only talking about Division 2 in Down? The way they were talking I thought they were ready to take on anyone in Down. Just remember that Bredagh seconds team were the 'whipping' boys of the league last year.

I'd be very suprised if The hurler is from Carryduff, or even was at the game, more than likely someone trying to be funny. The wind played a huge factor in the game as did some very wasteful shooting from bredagh. They had as strong a seconds team as ive seen from them and some of their minors impressed.
Carryduff were far from outstanding.
The hurler, if u are from Carryduff then u need to take a a reality check as a six point win over bredaghs seconds is nothing to shout from the rooftops about, but as I already said I highly doubt you are.

I was surprised with the Shamrocks result against Clonduff, are they not a weak Div 2 side? Shamrocks were in Div1 last year so I expected them to walk away with that game. Carryduff are a young side with plenty of skill but I can't see them doing too well this year as they're not experienced enough yet.

i can see one of the reasons why hurling in down is so bad and people dont want to play it, was at a match during the week and i never saw the likes of it the ref was so bad people from both sides could not beleive wat they were seeing blow blow every min think he was from the point hope im right in saying that but if that is wat the county board have to send to matches things or in a bad way, no if he was doing a match with my sons playing i wouyld be having a we word in his ear " READ THE RULE BOOK MATE " and we woulder when our teams go out of the county to play we get knocked around and wounder wat is going on. to all refs take note " ITS A CONTACT SPORT " and as we all no a good ref is never noticed in a match

Well said nosides !!

Too many hurling refs in Down don't let the game go because too many refs from places like Ballykinler & Banbridge never played the game.

What you heard was almost right. Bredagh threw it away in the first half when they hit a heap of wind assisted 65's and frees wide. Duff were very slow to get going and not even a soft goal could spur them on at that stage. 2nd half was a different story and the Duff backs dominated, leading to their attack picking off some nice scores from play. For the record the referee was very sharp and he took no nonsense.

As for dribble, you'd expect the winners of a derby to enjoy it. Not to be taken too seriously.

Frank Mitchell - I see you are still coming out with the jibes against C'duff. If your not careful it will appear to be sour grapes from last seasons JHC final:)

In all seriousness I think you should focus on your own hurlers because I suspect this will be a long year for them in div1 but fair play for taking up the challenge and I'm sure it will stand to them come the crunch.

Agree with Nosides and Frank, the standard of hurling refs in the county is woeful. They should all be taken down to Thurles to watch a Munster hurling final, hurling should be refereed the same way all over Ireland

There was some crazy decisions in Wednesdays games, matches can turn very quick with a dodgy ref!
