Confirmed, Portaferry will not participate in division 2 this season. Well done to the county board another feather in their cap! The demise has began!!!

The problem isn't so much naming exlcuded players it's the the Ards team forced to play two teams on one night IMO. It's shameful that adult hurling is given one night in the week. Football teams aren't asked to field two teams on the same day on a regular basis.
I know people might come back with the fact that the Ards teams seek to avoid this scenario on a regular basis but they can hardly be blamed. I'm with the Ards teams on this one! And none of this talking about the Ards playing strong teams abusing the system. Other teams have to improve to their higher standard or what's the point? Progressive teams should be looking to play teams BETTER than them so they can get BETTER therefore we can have BETTER players throughout the county so we can have a BETTER county team????
One division for all teams. Another league for reserves at the weekend after Ulster League finishes up??? More games the better for everyone no matter what their level?
Just my thoughts anyway.

Good point St Peters, there'll be some hammerings dished out in the short term but the long term it could balance Down hurling out at a higher standard than what it is at the minute

If the Ports are struggling for numbers we are all in trouble

Just noticed on the Antrim website that a Division 1 reserve league is going ahead with all the teams in Div 1 playing their reserve squads. It looks like reserves will play before the senior teams on a Sunday (2pm and then 3:30pm). So between this and Down Division 1 where do the Ards seconds go and Ards thirds go? And surely if Ballycran are the only Ards team in Down Div 2 then is that a fourth squad!???

allseeingeye, thanks man. Why is it that the hurlin listed players is different? they r 13 and 12 arnt they? you would think it wud be the same man? If it were the same as the futball it wud help the dwindling numbers. But hey lads................. just keep ploughing on!!!!!!!!!!!!

Div 1-

Liatroim V Castlewellan- Liatroim by 5. Liatoim still too strong for the town even with lads in Oz.
Ballycran V Ballygalget- Ballycran by 3. Crans are top team at this level but lost to Galgets in Championship final last year
Kilclief V Portaferry- Portaferry by 10. Ports will destroy Kilclief. They hammered St Pauls in Ulster league at weekend.
Warrenpoint BYE Warrenpoint to win pulling up. BYE haven't a hope.

Div 2-

Clonduff V Shamrocks- Shamrocks by 4. Shamrocks are Div 1 team and will beat most in this league.
Ballycran BYE
Carryduff V Bredagh- Carryduff by 13. Bredagh are poor and young Carryduff side will hammer them.
Ballyvarley V Ballela- Ballela by 5. Ballela too good for neighbours if they can field 15.

Good to get the leagues up and running again!

Warrenpoint usually do well against BYE, trouble with BYE is that they always have to play away from home as they don't have their own pitch! Looking forward to the new season! One league for all next year

Ballygalget more like it lol! A few local derbys tonight, and results might not exactly illustrate form. Some teams have it tight with the games tonight, Ulster league on Saturday, Antrim Div 1 Reserve on Sunday and Down league on Monday
