Div1 did finish last year Cahill, well the games that mattered anyway. Did the ports ever get over to Newry yet?

Best of luck to Niall.

The hurling convention was sorted out and fixtures should be out in a few weeks I reckon. Heard no team is being relegated from Div 1? Anyone know?

Heard also that all three Ards clubs are seriously thinking of pulling out of Div2 league due to lack of players.

I also heard that! Turns out Portaferrys Div 2 squad only played one scheduled Monday evening fixture last season and had to reschedule the rest due to lack of numbers, didn't do them any harm mind you, they finished top! If the Ards pull out of Div 2, thatll leave Clonduff, Ballyvarley, Carryduff and Bredagh 2nds along with the supposed team that's coming down from Div 1? Ballela or Shamrocks?

The Down website is very unrealiable cahill, most rescheduled fixtures appear as their original date, only a few are ever actually changed on the website

Well you stated 2 matches, that the Down website stated were on a Monday, but again not a reliable source. The other one was obviously a concession by Bredagh! Like I said this was a problem all the Ards clubs had last season 2 games on the Monday evening, I'm not laughing about it, just curious as to what is happening to the leagues next season. If the Ards 3rds are gonna be scrapped, does that leave Div 1 with 7 teams and Div 2 with 6? Is there gonna be one division for all 13 teams? Or will more South/North down clubs field second teams (very doubtful)!? Care to shed any light from your side of it Cahill!?

sad to hear about the galgets.

More players playing is better than none at all.

The decline continues.

Very true, fair play to the Ards clubs for being able to have so many teams on the go. Was the same with Warrenpoint a few years ago and Bredagh recently who found it tough with a second team in the league to fulfill fixtures never mind compete consistently. Clonduff, Warrenpoint, Castlewellan and Shamrocks tried a 2nds tournament last season but never really worked, numbers is the big issue.

Buster just to reiterate ports 3rds did play the vast majority of their games on a Mon evening, fact!

For Ards teams to participate in the 3rds league the county board will have to adopt the same policy for named players as implemented for the football leagues. (Dat reads good man) Reducing the number of named players for senior and div1 panels will allow the additional free players to play 3rds which will result in stronger competitive two leagues thus strengthening hurling in South Down. (Wot about dat man?) I know that increasing the full quota of un- named players was blocked by the two "Duff" clubs last year but now with emigration I think this should be addressed again

Buster thats wot I'm thinkin to keep hurling going in Div 2. We need good karma to work this out man!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thatll be 13 teams altogether if there is one league, the only way that could work is if there is two fixtures a week? Monday and Thursday night anyone?? 24 fixtures for all clubs will be hard to shift. In the football, Division 3 had 12 teams and it took nearly 8 months to get finished because Kilclief has their championship fixtures. I reckon it's gonna be two leagues and probably two teams from Div 1 will come down to compensate for the Ards 3rds pulling out, leaving 7 in Div 1 and 6 in Div 2
