Carryduff_Abu you said you thought that Creggan were too good for division 4. It was OBVIOUS to see when they went the whole season unbeaten.

That's a shame that Bredagh Castlewellan and CarryoutDuff couldn't field but in fairness it was very short notice from the county board. Betsy should be held earlier in the season prob between Ulster and Down League? Appreciation to Ballycran who could field a team the same weekend as the Ulster final, but this tournament should be better organized

You sit over there giving off about this that and the other in Down hurling and south down in particular. Look a bit closer to home. The Ards clubs have fallen way behind the pace in Antrim. You all need to up your game big time or else 2-18 to 0-8 beatings will be the norm in future. That result says it all.

We are having to survive on our own, without help from the County Board. County board pumps money into the mainland hurling, and look at the state of it. Come back to us when u are in a Senior Ulster Final. Have a feeling i'll be waiting a while.

i also mentioned that as somepeople dont follow antrim and like to know how teams get on

when you see teams gettin hammered you want to know what happened and if they are from another county you might want to see how that team are doing in their respective county league
as a result when you see how creggan are doing in antrim their is no excuse

as i said they will be up against better teams next year and i am hoping to see how they do against bredagh

There's some childish bickering goes on here.

Down hurling is suffering as a whole. I think its about time the county board put in the proper organisation/coaches/structures into the development for our youth teams of today. There shouldn't be a divide based on where abouts in the county you live. It should be one pot for all hurling clubs. The Ards is no longer the home of down hurling. Yes they are setting the standard and have done for years but the county needs to pull together as one. This I why the county team are backwards. Invest now and see the rewards in 5 years time.

Well said there seems to be a trend of constant division between the Ards, South Down and North Down and the county does need to unite to help the situation hurling is at the moment. Slabbering on this is just counterproductive! Armagh are taking over us gradually in hurling terms and there's no point various club members coming on here and saying that their gonna win this that and the other when they are just as good or bad as any other team. Kilclief have set a very good example winning intermediate in both codes as well as improved league campaigns without a whimper from any of their lads on HoganStand! They just knuckled down and got their rewards while every other club on this were bickering with each other

Promotion of Hurling in Down is symbolic at best !! Last years Minors were poor in my opinion. So what do we do.? Dont have an u17 developement programme. tHIS sQUAD WAS TO START AROUND mAY AT Atournament ib Belfast was cancelled. Then nothing all Summer till about end of August when they were taken to Carryduff to sort out a training and coaching schedule for winter,.They were left there for 2 hours while they waited for their bus to take them home. THEN NOTHING SINCE....

armagh is a good example in terms of promoting hurling

they pump money in to the set up and look at wot they are doing, they beat us this year in the senior championship

another example is dublin, they were at the same level as us a couple of years back and look at where they are now, and dont give me the excuse about numbers lads and population,

both of them are prime examples where we should be taking a leaf out of their books

The amount of money pumped into Dublin was ridiculous though. The GAA or any other body just wouldn't put the same amount of money into any other county, so Dublins model would be very hard to emulate without that level of funding. Armagh are doing really well, I don't think they have overtaken you yet, but they will. Soon. There is a lot of bickering between clubs and regions here, it's a problem but not an excuse because there are divisions everywhere. Honestly, I'd love it if you could improve and become more competitive, it would make ulster worth winning again and would help us improve as well. You need to get children playing from a young age to develop their technique, because it's hard to ween out the bad habits as they get older and you need to make it fun and interesting for them or they will lose interest. You need to get more children playing as well, in clubs and in schools, if your lucky you might just stumble upon that player who was born to hurl. I know this is hard without the full backing of the county and this is something you will need to address, probably through your clubs

Ok look at the dubs the like but you need a county board that's intresred only have to look at the county final the shambles o that to see how concerned they are bout hurling don't get me wrong a. Few on the hurling board are always there
