Not only is hurling going to pot in Down, but so is the use of grammar, in particular vowels in Kingdoms case.

Moderator, it's time you got a spell checker installed on this site.

the kingdom gael
judging by part of your post below,
"I tip C/wellan to do big things next year though I would like to see them take their chance to go up to intermediate league and gain stength against strong opposition, may not win much but they will improve "

does this mean castlewellan aren't going up to div 1???

or does anyone else know whats happening

Castlewellan are never going to do anything. Every year there going to do this and do that. They choke every year.

alrite lads....typing a quick comment in work can lead to some spelling mistakes.

C/Wellan do fall most years but I do see a future for them with the squad they have sticking together.
Clonduff are a very ambitious side who want to play at a higher level
Ballyvarleys Ambition has been cut down and they seem to be fading away
Carryduff are ambitious but need to put feet on the ground 1st, will take a few years to build to league competitors

for all you slatters out there
Creggan beat St Teresas (the next best team) in div 4 by 10 points, thats right 10 points to go through the season unbeaten

i think they are too good for div 4 antrim but none of the less as a duff man wil be nice to see how they get on with bredagh (our neighbours) next year in div 3 antrim

Be nice to see how Carry Out Duff get on with Bredagh if they meet in the Championship next year. That would be one worth goin to!!

As the top non Ards team in Div 2 Castlewellan can ask to be promoted. We intend to ask and CCC will decide.

bad when st teresas are being touted as a good side

Ah well creggan are dire mostly , with a few tidy players , hopefully the team can benefit from a higher level and push some lads on

Same with carryduff or castlewellan and the likes , they may be bad at the start but playing higher level reaps benefits. Look at the minor champ.

Carryduff_abu its obvious they are too good for division 4!! They went the whole season unbeaten!!

I think what he meant in regards Bredagh was it will be interesting to see how Creggan would get on against Bredagh in Div 3.

Heres a different point. What do people think on increasing the fee for not fielding in a game? I think in the Antrim league its £500 for not playing were in Down its £100. Might get the leagues finished and stop teams not fielding.

If your hurling team is struggling to field don't kick them when they're down. Award the points and even take a point off them but don't fine. That's just the excuse the football boys in the club want to kill hurling off.

I agree with what your saying there Frank but at the same time the leagues need to be finished. Taking a point off the team would be a good idea. I think an earlier dead line could be set to then to ensure leagues are finished and if games are not completed leagues are awarded as they stand.

I reckon Carryduff need their own Hogan Stand page never mind a separate forum post to accommodate the amount of chat about them on this! I say take points off the clubs if they dont field. Both Divisions were hammered with re-fixtures and 0-5 to 0-0 final scores! But at the same time a new generation of hurlers are breaking through into senior level and id say Down hurling will inevitably improve in say 4-5 years?? It was always gonna be a very slow process. Any word from anyone on Castlewellan's promotion and who is coming down to replace them in Div 2? (Balella or Shamrocks)

Also best of luck to the Crans in the Ulster final, would be a big lift for the whole county if they beat Loughgiel

Jeremiah castlewellan played junior final on August 21st then eventually got their next and final league game on 19th Sept and then are informed of Betsy Grey Cup game on on 22 October. Now thats what I call pathetic. Apparently they trained up until 19th Sept and after that called it quits. Jeremiah how are you supposed to keep things going from jan/feb with that timetable.
