You don't mean to say that the saviours of hurling in Down were beat in the Junior league by Ballygalget. What was the score, it surely must have been a tight game? silvertoungue (Antrim) - Posts: 101 - 19/09/2011 12:43:53 1037756 Link 0 |
what was the score Ballygalget V Carryduff? Not showing on Down website. Castlewellan V Bredagh this evening, and last game to be played in Div 2 is Portaferry V Ballycran, but I think these teams are meeting in a more important fixture shortly! Any word on Div 1 as well as Joe McCrickard/Betsy Gray getting wrapped up? BarrackBuster (Down) - Posts: 525 - 19/09/2011 12:44:01 1037757 Link 0 |
It was a complete hammering somethin like 2-23 to 0-7 coneill (Down) - Posts: 111 - 19/09/2011 13:51:38 1037822 Link 0 |
Reality check for Carryduff! That was Ballygalgets Thirds. Youse were laughing at Bredagh gettin stuffed by less last week by Portaferry Firsts. Youse are a long way behind. Frank Mitchell (Down) - Posts: 1082 - 19/09/2011 15:17:53 1037937 Link 0 |
Frank, check again. No Carryduff people slagging Bredagh about the senior championship on here. The slabbering is coming from the usual mouthpieces. There is nothing like it anywhere else on the Hoganstand county pages. Suas Sios (None) - Posts: 1558 - 19/09/2011 18:01:20 1038149 Link 0 |
2.24 to 7 points and Galgets hit about 16 wides and thats no exageration.the hoodies Carryduff were wearing during their warm up saying senior team on the back of them was all the motivation the depleted 17 man squad of Ballygalget needed jeremiah (Down) - Posts: 322 - 19/09/2011 20:34:57 1038296 Link 0 |

The Town beat Bredagh by 5 last night. It was a tough match but we pulled through in the end. Castlewellan 3-14 2-12 Bredagh. We can now opt for promotion if we want. Who will come down, Ballela or Newry? Frank Mitchell (Down) - Posts: 1082 - 20/09/2011 08:26:54 1038429 Link 0 |
I can speak from experience that creggan will not be handy enough. they beat a very physical glenravel in the antrim final. mccann got 15 points i think, may well be easier to stop the supply of ball getting to him and hope big beattie can hold him if he gets it. good luck to them anyway, representing down now so we should all wish them well. bgael (None) - Posts: 211 - 20/09/2011 11:19:42 1038577 Link 0 |

Best of luck to Carryduff in Ulster, hope they give it a good rattle for Down hurlings sake. Any word from Balella or Shamrock guys on who's getting relegated from Div 1? I heard from a few that score difference doesnt settle if points are level, but that the teams must meet in a play-off. This was meant to be the case in the promotion battle between Clonduff and Castlewellan in Div 2 as highest non-Ards club. Clonduff finished on 14 points, while Cwellan, who were sitting on 12 points had two fixtures left but were both against Bredagh so both clubs agreed to play a four pointer the other night to wrap up their league campaign, which Castlewellan won 3-14 to 2-12, so that means Castlewellan get 16 points and go up to Division 1 as top non-Ards??? I thought Clonduff had pretty much said they were getting promoted, but on the Down website it says Clonduff, Ballygalget and Castlewellan all level on 14, but hasnt updated the Ballygalget 2-24 0-07 Carryduff result, as well as the Bredagh V Castlewellan fixture, which essentialy is the same reversed! Ive been told ballycran had a senior panellist sent off in Clonduff on saturday?? id ask why he got sent off but im quicker to ask why a senior panellist was playing for ballycran thirds? TheKingdomgael (Down) - Posts: 167 - 21/09/2011 13:23:44 1039529 Link 0 |
But surely Clonduff cannot go up on 14 points (7 wins, 7 defeats) while Castlewellan have 16 points (8 wins, 6 defeats) so technically they are the top non-Ards club in Div 2? BarrackBuster (Down) - Posts: 525 - 21/09/2011 14:47:22 1039641 Link 0 |
You are correct. Castlewellan can go up. Clonduff can't after they lost to Ballycran on Saturday. Frank Mitchell (Down) - Posts: 1082 - 21/09/2011 14:57:02 1039649 Link 0 |
is this the same castlewellan team that got beat in the junior final Carryduff_Abu (Down) - Posts: 206 - 21/09/2011 16:16:34 1039719 Link 0 |
A team should only be promoted if they win Div 2. If you can't compete with the Ards 3rds why on earth would you want to take a hiding from the 2nds. Ballyvarley won it fair and squad 2 years ago and went up. Bredagh and Newry have won in recent years to and deserved to go up. Finishing 4th in an 8 team league doesn't say you are too good for that league. Seannie Og (Down) - Posts: 952 - 21/09/2011 18:45:05 1039914 Link 0 |
