That's a great idea bring a regional team together plus getting the schools involved. My own club Ballymartin has a couple of boys interested in hurling, but there is no club in the Mourne area at all. We perhaps could look at the possibility of a regional team in mourne depicting player from Ballymartin, Longstone, Atticall, Glassdrumman and An Riocht.

It's still early season and its hard to say how teams are shaping up at this stage. The 3 Ards teams and Liatroim are better than the rest in Div 1 altough Bredagh did draw wioth Ballygalget last week.

Castlewellan, Ballycran and Clonduff will fight it out for promotion in Div 2 I reckon.

Div 1
| Ballycran v Portaferry
Ballycran y 7

| Kilclief v Liatroim
Liatroim by 8

| Ballygalget v Kilclief
Ballygalget by 2

| Ballela v Shamrocks
Will Newry turn up? Someone should get them a sat nav.

| Liatroim v Warrenpoint
Liatroim by 10

| Bredagh v Ballycran
Ballycran by 10

| Portaferry v Ballyvarley
Ports by 16

Div 2

clonduff won by only 12 pts even though the point 2nds were loaded with first team players , joe must be concerned that they didnt get closer to Clonduff who really never got out of first gear. Straight red for warrenpoint firsts player for striking he be missed for wednesday's game against liatrom.2-14 to 0-8 final score

Warrenpoint fielded with lt only three first team panelist so i dont no where you go ur info from. Also Warrenpoint played 53 mins of a sixty min game with only 14 men i would not be boastful of the fact that clonduff beat the point 2nds by the score line of 2-12 to 0-8

Liatroim hurlers were training on Monday night! They do this every year - put matches off and end up with loads to play in October when the footballs over.

Warrenpoint and indeed the other clubs fielding more than 1 team have to produce players list.
With the case of Warrenpoint, they gave a list of 15 players who can only play in division 1 and any other player can play either division 1 or 2.
These players lists are produced at the start of the year and given to the other clubs to scrutinise.
So the players playing in division 2 should not be any of the players named on the first 15.

As stated before Warrenpoint did not use any of their first 15. We may ave two teams but all players are used in both teams other than the first 15 excluded players.

if thats true the CB need to step in right away and stamp this out as its unfair on all the other teams in the leagues.

Lose the points plus lose the home fixture against Kilclief when the leagues turn round. A fine would be good too but they're never paid..

Clonduff dont need to boast about beating a seconds point team everyone has beat this team over the last year so why would anyone think it an achievement . It was a good training exercise. As to the exclusion lists Warrenpoint have at least 4 on the list that will not be playing this year. Of the fifteen that took the field on monday seven of them would be playing on wednesday nights against div 1 teams. The point man who was given a straight red definitely would have been, he will get four weeks rest at least. It all part of the game at the end of the day. And Clonduff won by 12 and move on to the next game.

Tut tut Gerry, you have clearly been away from the Point too long. You can come on here on under all your different names and leave your posts to wind things up all you like. Watching the game the other night, the point only needed 2 or 3 players that would have changed that scoreline dramatically. So still alot of work to do yet.
As for the first 15 list. Everyone on it has paid up their membership and let management know that they will feature this year. So no rules have been broken. No players on the first 15 were on playing in Clonduff on Monday night. You will have a long hard season playing in Down and Armagh with around 30 players. So i think it's best you focus on that rather than trying to stir things with our club.

Results from last night?

Ballyvarley couldn't travel to Portaferry in Div 1 - re-fixed for Saturday I hear. Ballygalget won easy against Kilclief and Bedagh & Ballycran drew.

In Div 2 Ports hammered Bredagh and Ballycran hammered Clonduff.

Carryduff 3-06 Castlewellan 4-08. Carryduff won a first half littered with yellow cards but the town came back strongly and took more of their chances to win in an evenly contested game.

Bredagh are due to play Portaferry on Sunday in div1. Wonder what way that will pan out with them playing saturday too.

just shows you how far we are behind antrim in something as trivial as fixtures. our senior teams play in antrim and ulster league, if we do not fulfil a fixture we get fined etc. why is this not the same for the down division1? i am sick to the back teeth of teams not traveling places and getting away with it. and i mean ALL teams

i literally cant remember the last time newry shamrocks (for example) were in ballygalget at any level. i hear a lot of complaints about the shamrocks but i am 100% sure they are not the only ones.

typical county board. no backbone whatsoever.
