Clonoe target Moy county players.

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

personally i didnt think the county players were really targeted at all. The Clonoe players werent exactly going out of their way to pull them down or drag them to the ground it was just a very hard hitting game were everyone gave as good as they got. However the two main incidents did concern Jordan. There first appeared to be a stamp on him as he was knocked over while tackling although Its impossibile to tell wether this was an accident or intended as the player was running in that direction. As for the second Jordan was blocked off and fell to the ground. In frustration he dragged the offender down with him. Certainly a yellow card offense but the referee didnt see this. He was able to turn round though and see a Clonoe player with Jordan in what looked like a choke hold straight out of the WWF while another Clonoe player assaulted him. From there tempers boiled over and things got out of hand. The referee dealt with it as ge saw it. If he wanted he could have sent off every man on the field and even off bar one or two. I do wish to say though that a supporter getting involved with opposing players is a disgrace and there is no room for it in the GAA

istolethegiro County: Tyrone Posts: 33 250493 last thing i will say on this matter is this will happen every sunday moy play with there county men(on sundays performance exclude ryan mellon from this) if they continue to behave with complete lack of respect for those around them i encourage them to play away and rise above all this. Use other county players i.e enda mcginley mcmahon bros penrose and countless others who have played against clonoe(and many other clubs) on many occassions and have been treated with the same respect as they have treated the other teams and quite rightly so. There will always be an eliment of support in every club that even includes moy that will target county players when they make an odd mistake or miss a free kick this is going on for years and will continue for years to come.Club football is more intense now than ever with paid managers and the will to win by every club in the county and the game gets harder to referee by the year as it has speeded up so much. Mickey Harte might take a look a jordan at trainning last night or tonight and ban county players from playing for there club. Every body has the right to support tyrone but for a lot of supporters even more so for a club like clonoe whom even though are county champions we are deemed to have no one fit to make the best 30 of a panel in tyrone which is fair enough harte is the boss who are we to argue the club will always come first for these people and tyrone second that is the way it is for me anyway. Ask dromore carrickmore rock pomeroy or indeed MOST hardened grass roots supporters in any county club comes first county second full stop. Good luck to moy the rest of the season hatchet is buried. You might want to consider that Jordans language/attitude might have been caused by the bad stamp in the first half. I think Moy county players are targeted more than others as teams think if they can take Sean and Philly in particular out of the game that they are nearly there to beating us. Fair play though, I don't think there is any particular bad feeling from the Moy towards Clonoe. Deserved county champions last year, with a very strong team in all areas, full-back Brady would certainly look capable of playing for Tyrone on Sundays performance. It might just be an advantage not having any county players though, team is constantly disrupted.

I watched the game and it was enjoyable. What happened was the moy team were lossing and took the smart option to try and drag clonoe into a fight. The game was good up until this but i do find it quite funny that somehow 2 clonoe players were booked and not one Moy player was. In my eyes the members of the tyrone panel who play for the moy got away with murder. I will not mention any names but members of the tyrone panel hit clonoe players and of course this was going to cause problems. It was an entertaining game all around up until this point but i have to say the ref gave some bad decisions and im sure hes regretting it now but whats done is done and hopefully "the not so mighty moy" will learn from this.

still laughing my head off here.. county players dont deserve more respect than club players my friend, football's football and when your on the field you forget if the other player is involved in the tyrone set up.. im not sayin you beat him up and down the pitch but you still have to be aggressive!

Great shout there budlight. Are you meant to stand back and let the county players walk all over you?? When my club were playing teams with county players playing last year they were treated like any other player. We werent afraid to get stuck in and ix her up.
It will be the same this year when other county players are playing against us.

i think you should worry about your own team and the not so mighty moy are doing better than the definatly not so mighty clarkes, how does it feel to be in junior football? should you not have been attending that match instead? or does division 3 not appeal to you? :P

At the end of the day i support the clarkes. Perhaps if you read my post you would see that what i was getting at was the point that the members of the tyrone panel who play for "the mighty moy" were involved in starting the disturbance and got away with it due to them being who they were. I play minors and im a good player at that so ill worry about how i play and not my seniors please stay on the point of the topic infuture

PS. Do you know Gwen

I really think you lads don't get it. No-one is saying that county players should get special treatment. They should just get the same respect as all players deserve. That is something I feel that a lot of county players don't get. We have already had serious injuries to some of our county players such as Brian McGuigan, by lads trying to make a name for themsleves.

MB1.. i know what your saying here, i was just trying to say that club players deserve just as much respect from county players, if you know what i mean.. the players who go out and do a county player like what happened to brain mcguigan dont deserve to wear a gaa jersey! thats not what the game is about..

Im pretty sure county players in most club games get hit hard and hit of the ball, at the end of the day its all about winning football matches. I do attend club games in my area and watch the Moy often because of the talent their club that other clubs could only dream of. I do feel that other clubs believe that if moys county players can be stopped they will get a result because lets be honest the moy have little else to offer. If errigals county men stopped there always another bit of class waiting to in the wings same with dromore, ardboe. I just think the abuse them boys took last Sunday was brutal to say the least. The referee was poor and i think its time umpires and lines men should be introduced to league games to help a referee get decisions right and cut this disgusting tactic out of tyrone club football

Tyrone GAA- sweeping statements like the ones you have made regarding linesmen for all league games are totally unrealistic. Have you any idea how many referees there actually are in Tyrone. If by some stretch of the imagination an extra 2 linesmen for every league game appeared out of the magician's hat then the clubs fees will go up even more to cover the cost of expenses for the said linesmen. So please a bit more thought before such generalisations. At the end of the day if more players adopted a hard but fair attitude then the job of the referee would be much easier.

Dellboypolecat and tyronefan

Lets be honest here it started out describing how the person who made this thread was completely wrong and i gave my unbiased opinion and i am good the only reason i dont play in grade 3 is because i wouldnt waste my skill

I dont think Moys county players were targeted but phillip did what he always does (Give everything to the club) and clonoe couldnt handle him! and seeing the stud marks on his body and the marks on his face he could have got more pretection but the ref was fair to both teams but the problem was two brothers (No names) from clonoe good footballers but masters at off the ball stuff ive seen them do this stuff for years! id say for a neutral this would have been a great game to watch!

I didnt mean i the way of wrap the players in cotton wool...But Clonoe targeted the county players on the Moy team. They seem to just singled out 3 county players (too afraid of Ryan Mellon). I didnt see any other non-county, moy player getting stood on or choked on the ground.

I love the way u wrote that PQ - if big headed players are "too good" to play for a Junior football team then how are you going to be premoted? they need their "Quality player" to step up and get into intermediate football next year. After all the size of Dungannon the fact they are in Division 3 in a joke
