I just read a post on the spilland thread by pj.where he said des cahill would be the man for the job.I will second that hes the best sports presenter on rte and the most fairest.

So instead of a Kerry love in it would be a Dublin love in. No thanks!

So Ulsterman, who would you suggest ?? Its gonna be hard to find someone who isnt affiliated to some county or other.

Alan Shearer maybe. He'll be out of work in a few weeks.

Not saying Des is NOT fair but comes across as a bit Dublin obsessed sometimes.

Ulsterman: "So instead of a Kerry love in it would be a Dublin love in. No thanks!" Ah now thats completely wrong. In my opinion Maloney would be very biased and annoying, (even when he commentates on dublin you can tell he's a Man U supporter). Des would be absolutely excellent. Couldnt think of anyone more suited. Sensible, good-natured, good listener, knowledgable, interesting and, most importantly of all, respectful. He respect the efforts of all GAA players unlike spillane who hated everyone who wasnt two-footed, playing in a All-Ireland and from Kerry. Really excited about Des for the anchor roll because it would make the Sunday game watchable again. BUT this is RTE so they will screw it up somehow. I can see them giving it to Sile Seoige or pat kenny.

Patrique he presets the show 'Road to Croker'.

I don't think he is in the frame but I like Michael Lyster as presenter

Des Cahill... As mentioned earlier, the dubs love in will be worse than the current kerry one. Bring back Michael Lyster if he will take it

Des Cahill is a genial sort and is an excellent sports journalist, particularly on the radio...but love him or loathe him Spillane does stir it up, which I can't see Des doing.

However the way Spillane shows contempt towards teams that don't allow Kerry to play is a bit boring at this stage.

I've always felt Des Cahill made his name with the whole ABU thingy years ago. But on the whole I'm impressed with his work covering the GAA. He loves the Dubs, fair enough, but I think his mum is from Clare so he has Banner connections too. Any time I've seen him on TV or heard him on radio he is not afraid to discuss topics like dirty play, rules, managers being ousted. All in all I think he will do a decent job.

Pat Spillane should never have got the job in the first place. He is one of these people who needs to be a pundit, not an anchor.
