O'Donoghue is riding superb this season. I would argue that the only Irish based jockeys riding better than him are Fran Berry and maybe Wayne Lordan and I would include the likes of Kinane, Heffernan, Murtagh, McDonagh (although I still hope Declan can become one of the all time greats) and Smullen in that list.

Breeders Cup Classic Betting: Sea The Stars (5/2) , Rip Van Winkle (7/2) , Zenyatta (4) , Summer Bird (8) , Regal Ransom (12) , Richards Kid (12) , Fame And Glory (14) , Quality Road (14) , Mastercraftsman (16) , Rail Trip (16) , Einstein (20) , Macho Again (20) , Mine That Bird (20) , Tiago (20) , Bullsbay (25) , Pioneerof The Nile (25) , Well Armed (25) , Musket Man (28) , Asiatic Boy (33) , Chocolate Candy (33)

Sea The Stars 5/2 - If he runs in the Arc next weekend, then I can't envisage a scenario where he turns up at Santa Anita let alone wins.

Rip Van Winkle 7/2 - The likes of Giants Causeway, George Washington and Henrythenavigator were to a certain degree bred for this race, RVW is not. If none of those could win, then I don't see how this horse can. Personally, I'll be amazed if he acts on the new surface.

Zenyatta 4/1 - Will run in the distaff, i.e. the fillies race

Really, what I'm trying to say is that Quality Road at 14/1 is an amazing price! The more I think about this race and the closer it gets, the more I think its Quality Road's for the taking. He is a son of Elusive Quality, now who won the race last year? Raven's Pass, a son of who? This animal is a superstar waiting to happen, his wins in the Florida Derby and a Group Three Stakes this year were stunning. The only thing I will say is that by the day of the race (which is still well over a month away), he'll be a lot closer to 4/1 than 14/1.

A few posts back, I wrote about the BC Classic and the horse who would win it.

That was about a month ago and as the day of the race draws closer, I grow in confidence. Quality Road will win this race, I'd struggle to be any more confident than I am now.
