At the minute it would probably be David Wallace. I always liked Anthony Foley and David Humphries - clever players who know how to control a game. Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12372 - 31/03/2009 10:31:45 244250 Link 0 |

Simon Geoghegan was a fantastic player, shame he got so little ball during his time. That day in twickenham will never be forgotten though. bad.monkey (USA) - Posts: 4649 - 31/03/2009 13:45:13 244403 Link 0 |
Nothin like watchin Denis Hickey like gazelle down the wing. Id probably go with Rob Kearney in the current setup. Just the fullback we needed and at 22, the best is yet to come! spudenator (Laois) - Posts: 1052 - 31/03/2009 16:05:03 244573 Link 0 |
John Hayes, a true legend and half the reason O'Connell is so good inthe line out. Look at the last Lions tour, with no Hayes O'Connell was only half the player out of touch. Kilanerinfooty (Wexford) - Posts: 200 - 31/03/2009 16:14:09 244596 Link 0 |

joysatick would i be correct in saying that was 1988 he played wing forward in castlebar jailhouse.usa (Galway) - Posts: 1155 - 15/04/2009 00:36:24 257366 Link 0 |
jailhouse, would '89 be the year you're thinking of?? just I remember we lost to the rossies in pearse stadium in '88 (1st round) so don't think we had any trips to castlebar that year (we played mayo in connacht final there in '87 though). To be honest I always assumed Elwood only ever played league for Galway but I know the club he played with (Mervue) were senior that time and they also had a Brian O'Donnell on the Galway team after he changed clubs (survivor from '83 final).
